Hundred, walk home, fat, the troll, later ,the thinnest, roared, much bigger,

First of all came the youngest Billy-goat Gruff to cross the __________.
"Trip, trap, trip, trap!" said the bridge.
"Who is that tripping over my bridge?" roared ___________.
"Oh, it is only I, _________________ Billy-goat Gruff; and I'm going up to the
mountains to make myself__________," said the Billy-goat, with such a small
voice.
"Now I'm coming to eat you," said the troll. "Oh, no! Don't take me. I'm too little,"
said the Billy-goat; "wait a bit till the second Billy goat.
Gruff comes, he's______________."
"Very well then, be off with you," said the troll.
A little while____________ after came the second Billy-goat Gruff to cross
the bridge.
"Trap, trop, trap, trop!" said the bridge.
"Who's that tramping over my bridge?" ____________the troll.
“Oh, it's the second Billy-goat Gruff, and I'm going up to the hill-side to make
myself fat," said
the Billy-goat, who hadn't such a small voice.
"Now I'm coming to get you," said the troll.
"Oh, no! Don't take me, wait a little till the big Billy goat Gruff comes. He's much
bigger."
"Very well, be off with you," said the troll.
Now came the big Billy-goat Gruff.
"Stomp, Stomp, Stomp, Stomp!" went the bridge, for the Billy-goat was so heavy
that the bridge creaked and groaned under him.
"WHO'S THAT STOMPING OVER MY BRIDGE?" roared the troll. "It's I, the big
Billy-goat Gruff," said the Billy-goat who had a bossy, hoarse voice of his own.
"Now I'm coming to get you," _______________the troll.
"Well, come on if you can! I've got two spears, they'll poke your eyeballs out at
your ears; My two curling-stones, shall crush your bones."
Maybe that was what the big Billy-goat said. He flew at the troll, and poked his
eyes out with his horns, and crushed him to bits, body and bones, and tossed him
out into the
river, and after that he went up to the mountains. There the Billy-goats got so fat
they were hardly able to ________________ again; and if the fat hasn't fallen off

EXPRESSIVE PURPOSE
That I interpret and recognize vocabulary about places and landmarks.
Reading Skills –understanding a sequence
In a story things happen in order of sequence. Signal words like, first, second, next,
finally, after or then can identify the next event.
Logical connectors are often, but not always, placed at the beginning of a
sentence. In this emphatic position, they help listeners to understand, for example,
the structure and direction of an oral presentation. Students especially overuse the
connectors of addition Furthermore, Moreover, Besides.
Which Way???
Read the story below. Then place the number (starting with 1) on the lines
below to organize the events of the story in the correct order:
Before any humans walked the earth, when the world was the land of the animals,
a very long winter set in. The sun did not come out for three years. The air was
always dark. Thick clouds hung low and covered the sky. It snowed all the time.
The animals suffered during this long winter. The lack of food was alarming
enough, but the lack of heat made it all absolutely unbearable. They were
frightened.
The animals called for a grand council. All the beasts, birds, and fishes of all sizes
and shapes were invited. All the animals quickly agreed that the most important
thing to do was to find out what had become of the heat, for without heat their
suffering would never end. Yes, the heat must be found! And it must be brought
back again. They decided several quick and brave animals would go on a search
mission to the upper world. That's where they suspected the heat had been taken.
These are the animals chosen for the mission: Lynx, Fox, Wolf, Wolverine, Mouse,
Pike (a freshwater fish), and Dogfish (a kind of small shark--dogfish is a funny
name for a shark, isn't it?).
After much traveling far and wide through the air, the group finally found the hidden
doorway that opened to the upper world. Excited, they all climbed upward to the
world above.
PLACE THE EVENTS IN THE CORRECT SEQUENCE BY USING THE
NUMBERS 1-6:
________ The animals were frightened.
________ The brave animals found a hidden door.
_________The animals called for a grand council to be held.
_________ The grand council sent the brave and the quick on a mission.
_________ The animals decided they needed to find the heat.
_________ The animals had no heat to warm them or food to eat.

In 1854 a war started between Britain, France and Turkey,

soldiers were terrible. There were no beds or toilets, there was

Charles Chaplin was very famous film star. He was from a
poor home in South of London, and he was already a comedy
actor in the theatre when he was a teenager.
He went to USA in 1910, and in 1914 he was in his first Hollywood film.
In those days, the film industry was very young. Chaplin’s early comedies were in
black and white and they were ‘silent’- there were no words or music.
Chaplin’s favorite character was ‘the tramp’ –a little man with big trousers, an old
black hat and a sad face. This was Chaplin’s character in his famous comedy filmsfor Example The Kid (1920), The Gold rush(1924), and City Lights(1931).Modern
times (1936)was his first ‘talking film’ and in The Great Dictator he was the director
and music writer as well as the star. Chaplin decided to leave the USA in 1952 and
his new home was in Switzerland. He died there on Christmas Day at the age of
88.
Answer the following questions based on the information given in the text:

The joke
A very good actor was playing in a comedy where he acted the role of an
aristocrat.
The aristocrat was in the Bastille (France) prison where he had to spend a lot of
time. In the second act a guard always arrived and gave the aristocratic prisoner a
letter. The prisoner took the letter and read it aloud. The play had already been
repeated hundreds of times and the aristocrat knew
the letter by heart but he always insisted that the letter should be written down
completely.
One night the guard decided to play a joke on the famous actor, just to find out if
he knew the letter by heart, after so many performances.
When the guard entered the prisoner's dark cell, the prisoner was on a small bed.
He gave the prisoner the letter, but this time there was nothing on the sheet: it was
completely blank. The guard looked at the aristocrat: he was so happy about his
joke that he couldn't hide his smile. He wanted to see if the prisoner could recite
the letter by heart. The prisoner looked at the letter for some second, then he said
:"There is too little light. I can't see very well. Can you please read the letter for
me?" And he gave the letter to the guard.
The guard, who obviously remembered the letter, said:
"You are right. The light is really very dim. I must go get my glasses.” He left the
cell and went to fetch the usual copy of the letter. Then he came back with the
letter and the pair of glasses and started reading the letter to the prisoner. The
prisoner was of course very much amused.
Comprehension: Answer the following questions:
1 Where was the play set?
2.Where was the prisoner when the guard
brought him the letter?
3 What solution did the guard find?
4How did the good actor feel in the end?
5Where is the Bastille?
6.Who did act the role of an aristocrat?

he looked nothing on the sheet?

What is the message of the prayer?
REFLECTION ON PRAYER
I asked God for strength, that I might achieve;
I was made weak, that I might learn humbly to obey.
I asked for health that, I might do great things;
I was given sickness, that I might do better things.
I asked for riches, that I might be happy;
I was given poverty, that I might be wise.
I asked for power to have the praise of others;
I was given weakness, to feel the need for God.
I asked for all things, that I might enjoy life;

Almost despite myself, my unspoken prayer was answered;

EXPRESSIVE PURPOSE
That I talk about past actions with correct pronunciation, learning the difference
between regular and irregular verbs.
EVALUACIÓN: INDICADOR O INDICADORES DE DESEMPEÑO:
Escribo textos cortos, donde hago uso de las reglas gramaticales aprehendidas
en el periodo, en los diferentes tiempos gramaticales, trabajados en clase.
Regular and Irregular Verbs
To make the past tense or past participle form of most verbs (regular verbs) we
simply add “ed” at the end. Examples using the verb “walk”:
Past Tense: I walked through the maze.
(Write more examples in your notebook)
Irregular verbs are not that simple. We sometimes need a dictionary to help us
write the different forms of irregular verbs.
Examples using the verb “see”:
Past Tense: We saw the secret maps.
Look up the word “see” in the dictionary. Notice that the different forms of the word
are given. Look up “walk.” Notice that the dictionary doesn’t bother to give the
different forms of regular verbs.
•
Irregular verbs
The past forms of the irregular forms DO NOT end in “-ed”. They have different
forms and we need to learn them gradually. Here is a list to begin with
Example:1) We went to the movies last weekend
2) They were hungry and ate the whole chicken.
(Write more examples in your notebook)
Read the following situation and fill in a chart.
Tomas was new in the city, his family moved to California last month. He
had to work because there were money problems in his family. He found
job in a well known supermarket. He attended the phone for customers’
requirements.
One day he received a call where he had to send a lot of water but he did
not know that expression, so he sent one bottle. In the afternoon his boss
called him to his office and reprehends Tomas for his mistake, he was so
angry because there was a big sport show in the city where people
needed a lot of water but Tomas did not understand and his boss lost
much money.
For that reason at the end of the day the boss took a decision: Tomas

God's Wonderful World
At first the earth was dark and empty. God's spirit moved over the waters.
And then God said, "Let there be light", and there was light for the day. He called
the darkness night. And that was the first day.
On the 2nd day God separated the waters below from the waters above and He
called the space in between, heaven.
On the third day God created the dry land and the seas. He said, "Let the land
have plants and fruit trees", and it was so. And God saw that it was good.
Then God said, "Let there be lights in the heavens to separate day and night and
the seasons and so God created the sun, the moon and the stars. And God saw
that it was good. That was the 4th day.
On the 5th day God filled the seas and the skies with living creatures. He saw
that it was good.
Then God created living creatures of all kinds on the land; cattle and creeping
things and wild animals. And it was good.
And then God said, "Let us make man in Our image, and he will rule over all living
creatures." And so God created Man and Woman. God blessed them and told
them to care for the living creatures. He told them He had given all of them the
food they needed to live. He saw all that He had made and it was very good. That
was the 6th day.
On the 7th day God rested. He blessed the 7th day and made it holy because it
was the day that God rested from all His work which He had created.

Like The film?
Read and answer.
I watched an interesting film on TV yesterday. It was about a war between England
and China in the 19th century. In the war, Robin Moore, a British soldier, almost
died; a Chinese soldier, Li Fung, saved his life. Li Fung`s daughter, Weili, was a
nurse. She looked after Robin and she liked him a lot. Robin really liked Weili too.
But there was one problem- language. Weili did not speak English and Robin did
not speak Chinese. Robin really wanted to understand Weili, so he wanted to learn
chinese. He stayed at Li Fung`s house for five years. He listened to Weili a lot, he
asked Weili a lot of questions. After three years Robin’s Chinese was excellent.
They were both very happy.

Once upon a time, there was a man and a woman who had a daughter who lived
on the bank of a stream. The parents did not teacher her nice manners and never
punished her for her faults. The daughter would often laugh in her mother's face
when she asked her daughter to help cook the dinner or to wash the plates. As the
girl grew older she would just spend her days dancing and playing with her friends.
She was very selfish, and her parents might as well have had no daughter at all.
However, one morning her mother looked so tired that even the selfish girl could
not help but notice. She asked if there was anything she was could do to do so that
her mother might rest a little. The good woman looked so surprised and grateful for
this offer that the girl felt rather ashamed. At that moment, the daughter would have
scrubbed down the whole house if she had been requested. But her mother only
asked her to take the fishing-net out to the bank of the river and mend some holes
in it because her father intended to go fishing that night. When he came home, her
father was grateful for his new, unselfish daughter.

Have you said to the people around you how important they are?
Do You Know How Important You Are to Me?
By Alin Austin
I know you probably wonder
from time to time
what you mean to me.
So I'd like to share this thought
with you, to tell you that
you mean the world to me...
Do you know how important
you are to me?
Think of something you couldn't live without
... and multiply it by a hundred.
Think of what happiness means to you
... and add it to the feeling you get
on the best days you've ever had.
Add up all your best feelings
and take away all the rest...
and what you're left with is
exactly how I feel about you.
You matter more to me than you can
imagine and much more than I'll ever
be able to explain.
Now it’s your turn to express your friends your love writing a short sentence … one
adjective sometimes is not enough to say what we are feeling, but the superlatives
and the comparatives can help us … let’s see some examples:

Rio de Janeiro Carnival
The annual carnival in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, started around
1840. Brazilians celebrate this famous carnival at the beginning
of February. They offer prizes for both costumes and music; the
competition results in varied and imaginative entries in both
categories. It is the most famous carnival in the world.
April’s Fool’s day
It’s celebrated in the USA on April 1st, Americans play
small tricks on their best friends and relatives by making
them believe facts/things which are not real or by putting
them in embarrassing situations that make them feel
ridiculous in front of others. One common trick on this day
is making an appointment with somebody and then not
showing up. These are some other practical jokes: Putting
salt in the sugar bowl for the next person to use it. Most
April fool jokes are in good fun and aren’t meant to offend
anyone.
Mardi Gras
The wonderful city of New Orleans is famous all over the
world for two things : jazz and Mardi Grass. Mardi Grass is a
two week carnival in February or March. There is music in the
streets, people wear colorful clothes and they dance all day

Special Celebrations in America
Thanksgiving Day: The first American Thanksgiving was celebrated in 1621; the
year after the Pilgrims had arrived from and landed on Plymouth Rock. George
Washington proclaimed November 26, 1789, as a day of public Thanksgiving and
prayer. In 1863 President Abraham Lincoln made Thanksgiving an official annual
holiday now celebrated on November the 4th each year. The Thanksgiving meal
includes a stuffed turkey, yams, potatoes, corn, cranberry sauce, rolls, gravy and
pies. Relatives always gather together to share this meal.
Easter in America
Easter is the day Christ's resurrection is celebrated. Families dress in cheerful,
spring colors and attend church where a message is given about Christ rising from
the tomb and songs are sung. A ham dinner with pineapples,
potatoes, fruit salad and vegetables is served for lunch. The
Easter bunny comes in the morning and fills baskets with Easter
eggs and lots of chocolate and candy.
St Patrick’s day:
Every year on March 17th , many people in big cities like New
York, Chicago and Baltimore go onto streets in a big parade for
St Patrick’s day. This is an important holiday for the millions of
Irish Americans. The national color of Ireland is green, so many people wear green
clothes and they sing and dance all day and all night.
Christmas in America:
Christmas trees with special ornaments put up in homes about one month before
Christmas Day. Electric candles are hung in windows and greenery. Christmas
stockings are hung on the mantle of the fire place, one for each member of the
family including pets. Some families also place a nativity scene under the tree with
the gifts which are usually opened on Christmas morning. When children are in bed
on Christmas Eve, Santa Claus flies through the night in his magic sleigh pulled by
reindeers, lands on the roof tops, slides down the chimney and fills the stockings
with small gifts and bones and treats for pets. The true reason Christmas is
celebrated is for the birth of Jesus Christ, the Savior of all. Families get together for
the midday meal or dinner. The meals eaten include boiled lobster, salad, breads
and a variety of desserts. Sometimes roast of beef instead of lobster is eaten.

This day commemorates the landing of the Australian soldiers on the beaches of
Gallipoli-Turkey. In every Australian capital city there is a parade of the current

bands play as these people march down the streets. Lots of people go to watch

In Sweden, Easter is not as big a celebration as Christmas, but schools have a
holiday for about one week before Easter. It is the time when people remember
when Jesus died and then rose from the dead.
People decorate their houses with the Easter colors; yellow, green and
white. They put yellow chickens with feathers of different colors all over
their houses. People eat almost the same food that they eat in Christmas,
but a lot more candy. The Easter Bunny is part of the celebrations. The
bunny ‘hides’ the Easter eggs the night before Easter Sunday in the
houses and the children search for the eggs the next day. The eggs are
made of cardboard, and inside each one there is a candy.

AN ABSTRACT: is a short summary of your completed research or text. If done
well, it makes the reader want to learn more about your research or text.
These are the basic components of an abstract in any discipline:
1) Motivation/problem statement: Why do we care about the problem? What
practical, scientific, theoretical or artistic gap is your research filling?
2) Methods/procedure/approach: What did you actually do to get your results?
(e.g. analyzed 3 novels, completed a series of 5 oil paintings, interviewed 17
students)
3) Results/findings/product: As a result of completing the above procedure, what
did you learn/invent/create?
4) Conclusion/implications: What are the larger implications of your findings,
especially for the problem/gap identified in step 1?
However, it's important to note that the weight accorded to the different
components can vary by discipline. For models, try to find abstracts of research
that is similar to your research.

Special Celebrations in Malaysia
In Malaysia there is a special celebration called Deepavali. This is a Hindu festival
that is also known as the Festival of Lights. It is celebrated during the Tamil month
of Aipasi, between October and November. Hindus believe it is the day when the
good forces overcome the evil ones. During this time the Hindu homes are lit with
tiny lights to show victory over darkness. These lights are in clay pots filled with
coconut oil. On the eve of Deepavali, prayers are held in homes and temples. On
the morning of Deepavali, Hindu families pray at home by burning incense and
having special baths before going to the traditional Indian foods.

Christmas in Malaysia
In Malaysia, Christmas is celebrated on a small scale. This is because only 10% of
the populations are Christians and the majority of people are Muslim. However, in
the last 10 years businesses have taken the opportunity to promote the event to
sell more goods and to hold lots of end- of- year sales. Christmas Day is the only
public holiday in Malaysia.
When Tina was little her mother would cook a western-style meal of chicken
casserole, baked or mashed potatoes, pumpkin, carrots and peas. In recent years
her family has also had roast turkey or beef. She likes this food as on most other
days she has Asian meals and rice. Her dad always prepares fruit cocktail or
shandy to drink at the Christmas meal and they often ask close friends to come to
share the food. They also ask people who do not have the opportunity to have a
special meal at this time eg, a disabled child or a lonely, elderly person.

Easter in England
Easter is celebrated by giving and receiving things like Easter Eggs. Older people
may exchange things like money, clothes, chocolate or go on holidays together.
Some people make Easter bonnets or baskets, which have things like daffodils in
them or mini eggs. Small children sometimes go to a local community centre to
enter an Easter bonnet competition to see whose bonnet is the best and the winner
gets an Easter egg. The Easter bunny is part of the Easter tradition in England and
the shops are filled with thousands which people buy to give to each other. The
Easter bunny ‘hides’ the eggs in the houses and children on Easter Sunday search
to find these treats.
Hot –cross buns are popular foods on Good Friday. These are sweet fruit buns
with crosses on top. Some people still make these with yeast, but shops now sell
dozens in the week before Easter.

Origin of talismans
A talisman is any object, sacred or profane, with or without appropriate inscriptions
of symbols, uncharged or consecrated by means of appropriate ritual magic or
meditation. Amongst other things it exerts an auto-suggestive effect on the wearer.
It’s made to serve a specific end to bring good fortune in some area of life or to
achieve some specifically named goal.
An amulet is in effect no different, save that as a charm it is supposed to be worn
for protection against disease, sickness, ill fortune, or witchcraft.

Read: Christmas in England
Christmas is celebrated in England with people giving and receiving presents to
family and friends. Many people share a Christmas meal of roast turkey, roast
potatoes and a large choice of vegetables followed by Christmas Pudding and
Mince pies. They may also organize parties where beer, wine and sometimes
champagne are served. Not many people go out at Christmas, unless they are
going to families as on Christmas Day no shops or amusements are open.
Christmas celebrations are not just on 25th December as people
celebrate on Christmas Eve and the day after Christmas which is called
Boxing Day.
Santa Claus is part of the Christmas festivities and small children
believe he brings their presents down the chimney on Christmas Eve. Nobody ever
gets to see him in their homes, though, because he only comes when everybody is
sound asleep. Children believe that he lives in the North Pole and it is a tradition to
leave a glass of sherry for Santa and a carrot for his reindeers. There is lots of
excitement on Christmas morning as children get up VERY early to open their
presents. In the weeks before Christmas, Santa also sits in Santa’s grotto in
shopping malls where lots of different Christmas carols are played and sung.
Children can go and get a small present from him
