Kalama Dining Hall K MT #3 ! Kalama Dining hall was built in 1954 to house the kitchen for the preparatory department. It was once name Keʻelikōlani, but 10 years later the name was passed to the new swimming pool. The dining hall was built by Walker-Moody construction and costed $237,846 to build. The dining hall was used to feed day students in the 7th and 8th grades, and fed borders in the morning and night. The building has a capacity of 640 persons. ! In 1993 a renovation on Kalama started. Architect Arthur Siu, was the leader in the $2.4 million dollar project. They renovated everything from the equipment in the kitchen to the tile floors. They also added a Unit office at the Waikīkī end of the dining hall. ! The dining hall was named after Queen Kalama. Kalama means a torch or light. She was married to Kamehameha III.
