“Birds of Prey” Ravens Nest No.1 of Harford County, MD, Inc. Volume 16, Issue 7 Ravens Right Around the Corner, O’s Looking Good! July 14, 2016 President’s Letter Greetings, We had a busy month in June with our Golf Tournament, Orioles Trip and our Nest Happy Hour! The golf outing was very successful. We didn’t have as many golfers as last year, but we raised a nice sum which Vic Zengler will talk about tonight. Thanks to all who attended and/or donated their time. Special recognition to Cavanaugh Homes for being our Title Sponsor this year! The Orioles outing was a sell out and everyone had a great time. There was plenty of cold beer, sodas and water and ample food consisting of subs, pizza, snacks and a variety of desserts. Of course it was too hot, so many of us retreated to the outfield bar just like we did last year by the second inning. Be on the lookout next April for our sign-up sheet. Our June Nest Happy Hour was held at 510 Johnny’s. We tied our record of 31 in attendance. Tonight we will vote on where to have our July Happy Hour due to an event that was brought to my attention a few days ago. Our August Happy Hour will be at TGI Friday’s. Friday’s will be offering us $80 in free appetizers! I’d like to thank Nest member Stan Simms who is a manager there for arranging this. Please join us and sign up if you plan to attend so I can have the appropriate number of seats reserved. Our Delaware Park trip had to be cancelled due to not enough people attending. We needed 40 people to receive the free $30 in slot credits, we only had 29 signed up. We will look into this for next year. In lieu of the Delaware Park trip we will still utilize the date of Saturday, August 20 and have a Ravens Nest Picnic. The picnic will be held at the Fountain Green Swim Club. The Nest will be providing the beer, sodas, water, hot dogs, sausages and rolls. We ask that Nest members attending bring chips, pretzels, salads and desserts to share with those in attendance. There will be a sign up sheet at tonight’s meeting to list the items you would like to bring or if you would like to volunteer to help cook. We ask that you keep this to your immediate family so we are not overrun with too many people. The swim club does charge $5 per person to enter the establishment. We will be under a very nice pavilion and are looking into some musical entertainment as well. Grab your thongs and speedos and join us for what we hope to be a very nice event for the Nest membership. Our second bus to the Jets trip is filling up nicely! Please sign up tonight so we can sell it out! As a reminder we have all 100 seats together in the upper level. Snacks, beer, sodas are provided on the way up and back. We will have a catered tailgate party on the parking lot. This has been cleared with the Jets. The cost for all of this is only $175 per person. All money is due by our August meeting. Please take note if you are not paid in full by our August meeting we will open your spot to someone in waiting. The American Legion crab feast we attended last year is scheduled on Saturday, September 24. The price should remain at $45 for all you can eat crabs, crab soup, corn on the cob, pit ham, salads, draft and sodas. There is a sign up sheet tonight. Last year we had 37 Nest members in attendance. Everyone who attended enjoyed the food, especially the crabs! This year I am able to reserve between 50 and 75 tickets, so please sign up and be positive you can attend. Money for this event will be due at our September meeting. Go Ravens!
