The Smarter Balance Assessment (SBA) in English/Language Arts will
be offered on campus April 19, 2017.
Students who need to pass this required assessment will be invited to
register for this exam beginning in March 2017. All students seeking a
WA high school diploma must pass state assessments in Reading and
Wri ng. Please consult your Advisor to determine whether you
need to take the SBA.

Make sure you put this in your calendar. We will not accept books
a er the last day of the quarter and those who do not turn in their
books must pay full price for the books AND re‐pay the deposit
before they can check out books again.

Tutoring

Mandatory tutoring is a con nuous requirement
for Gateway students each month throughout
the school year. So plan ahead to get your
tutoring completed early each month so you
aren’t stressed about it later.
Remember, you can use any of our tutoring labs
(Learning Lab, Wri ng Lab, Math Lab, and ASC).
You are not required to actually work with a
tutor in order to get in your minutes but they are
available to help you in case you need them.

for a variety of professional positions. You will
develop the knowledge, skills and values needed
to assist individuals and groups with personal,
interpersonal and situational problems.

Learn from Social Work & Counseling Experts
As a licensed social worker Rex Rempel has worked in mental
health care, crisis work, clinical supervision and senior care since
1993, providing direct service to homeless adults, supervising
case managers, and serving as program manager for the county’s
Crisis Diversion Facility.
Sonny Campbell brings a wealth of experience in psychology
from his twenty-year career in counseling. He taught psychology
for fifteen years at Hawaii Pacific University and has been
teaching at Lake Washington for ten years. Sonny teaches
courses in counseling skills, group dynamics and aging.
