For 900-pair size installations, make two horizontal lines on the mounting surface, one at 68 inches (1.73 m) and one at 17-1/2 inches (445 mm) above floor. For 300-pair size installations, make one horizontal line on the mounting surface 60 inches (1.52 m) and one at 47-1/2 inches (1.21 m) above floor. Mark location for screws as shown above. 2. Partially insert four No. 12 x 3/4” round head wood screws (not provided) for each terminal block panel to be mounted. Two on the top and two on the bottom. 3. Position terminal block panel on screws and tighten screws to secure panel to wall. Page 2 5 Pages 847265295 Instruction Sheet Bracket Mounting 1. Attach each 110A mounting bracket to wall 68 inches (1.73 m) and 17-1/2 inches (445 mm) above the floor using four No. 12 x 3/4” round head wood screws (not provided). 2. Position terminal block panel so that slots in hanger are seated on detents in the 110A bracket. Position cable and remove outer sheath starting above terminal block panel. 2. Install D-bond clamp as shown in the insert above and in instructions available on the CommScope website (860370451). Attach bond strap to terminal block panel with screws, nut, and washers supplied. 3. Separate binder groups and dress in slots from top to bottom of terminal block panel (BL-W top left, O-W top right, etc.) in color-code sequence. 4. Secure cable to back of panel with cable ties at the top and at each group of four binder groups. 847265295 Issue 7, May 2010 Page 3 5 Pages Step 3 – Install Wiring Blocks Terminal block panel Note: Cable not shown for clarity. Wiring block 1 Plastic rivet 4 3. Place the conductors in the index strip following the even-count color code. Binder groups entering from the left are terminated on the top index strip and binder groups entering from the right are terminated on the bottom. 3 788H1 impact tool 2 1. Position wiring block on terminal block panel and secure with two plastic rivets. Repeat until all wiring blocks are in place. 2. Dress the binder groups through the cable slots in the wiring blocks. 4. Seat and cut conductors using 788H1 Impact Tool. (Exercise care to prevent cutting the wrong side.) Remove cut conductor and check to make sure no short pieces of cut conductors are wedged in the wiring slot. Step 4 – Install Connecting Blocks 1. Position appropriate connecting blocks (see table) in index strip (slate down) and seat using 788H1 tool. Position jumper trough between wiring blocks and secure with two plastic rivets. Continue installation of terminal blocks as required. Mount 188C3 or 188D3 backboards as required. Install duct assemblies at bottom of field terminated terminal blocks. Slide the appropriate paper inserts into the designation strips and install on wiring blocks. Two are required for each 100-pair wiring block. 5. (Not shown) Determine the proper length patch cord and place the patch cord in its appropriate location. Note: In locations where there are floor cables, the 3-pair cord must be placed on the first 3 pairs of the 4-pair.
