Contest Guidelines
Student Eligibility:
This contest is open to any high school sophomore who attends a high school in the Boone Electric Cooperative service area. Home-schooled students are also eligible to apply if they reside within Boone Electric’s
geographical service area. (Children of BEC Directors are not eligible to enter.)
Application Content:
The following items must be submitted to be considered for the Cooperative Youth Conference and
Leadership Experience (CYCLE):
• A signed and dated copy of the completed 2017 CYCLE application.
• A brief paragraph stating why you would like to be chosen as a delegate to represent Boone Electric
Cooperative at the CYCLE conference in Jefferson City.
• A brief paragraph stating what is an electric cooperative.
• A letter of recommendation from a teacher, coach or recognized youth organization leader.
Application Delivery and Deadline:
Applications must be received in Boone Electric’s office no later than Monday, March 6, 2017, at 5 p.m.

Judging:
The Boone Electric Cooperative CYCLE committee will select up to six students to receive an all-expense
paid trip to Jefferson City in July to attend the 2017 Cooperative Youth Conference and Leadership Experience program. Delegates will be selected based on their community service, scholastic achievements and
leadership experiences. CYCLE delegates will be notified by March 23, 2017.

Delegate Duties:
Attend the Youth Tour finals competition Tuesday, April 11, 2017, to be recognized as a CYCLE delegate.
CYCLE delegates must be available July 12-14, 2017, for the CYCLE conference in Jefferson City.
