OUR NEWEST MEMBERS
Dear New Second Baptist Church Family Member:
With great joy and celebration we welcome you to your new Church home. You took an
important step when you gave God your heart and united with Second Baptist Church to
begin or enhance your life's journey as a Christian.
No one accepts Christ and is suddenly spiritually mature. Peter spoke of persons coming
to Christ as newborn babies who should desire the pure milk of the word so that they
could grow (1 Peter 2:2).
On behalf of Pastor Days, our first Lady Constance Days and the Officers and Members of
Second Baptist Church we WELCOME you! We believe unequivocally that God has sent
you to this church to build upon our ministry. We say thank you for allowing the Spirit of
God to lead you in joining in fellowship with baptized believers in Jesus Christ.

Christians in Recovery
The Holiness in Being Broken
REV. STADI REAVES
Christians in Recovery is a Christ centered addictions overcomers ministry that was birthed in the heart of Pastor Days in
1995. After being called to pastor at Second Baptist Church,
Pastor Days began to see the ravaging effects that drug and
alcohol addiction was having on the community. It was then
that he formed the ministry with the expressed intent of giving
individuals the opportunity of breaking free from the deadly
grip of addiction through the delivering power of the Word of
God.
This ministry has been blessed to have compassionate
facilitators such as Reverend Jodi Burroughs, Minister
Madeline Williams, Deacon Charles Myrick, Sister Maria as
well as myself, Rev. Stadi Reaves. I must also give special
mention to Sister Joyce Dyitt who has blessed this ministry
throughout the years, and God knows your works. We have all
been able to lend our experience of having struggled with
various addictions along with their damaging effects.
However, we and many others can also testify that the only
true and lasting solution to this deadly dilemma is a change of
nature brought about by the transforming power of God's Holy
Spirit through Jesus Christ. We not only address the issue of
drug and alcohol addictions, but any and all matters that have
someone bound and unable to live in true freedom.
For those situations where an individual desires to enter a long
term rehabilitation program, we are able to assist with this, as
well. To the glory of God, we have access to Christian
rehabilitation ministries throughout the country. The length of
stay in these programs is normally six to nine months. While
there, the individual undergoes an intense schedule which
includes Bible classes, chapel services, group and individual
counseling sessions, assigned chores, as well as work readiness
programs.
These ministries are supported by private donations and are
available at no cost to our church. However, we do furnish the
cost of transportation, if the individual or their family is unable
to, which is most often the case. At the time of writing this
letter, there are four individuals whose lives are being
transformed in various rehabilitation centers. This great work
is possible due in large part to the generous support of those
who give financially to the aiding of ministry in our church. Our meetings are held every Tuesday and Thursday from 5pm6pm at Second Baptist Church in the upper classrooms.
Graciously submitted,
Reverend Stadi Reaves
The Christian faith has plenty to offer
people who want to break the shackles of
addiction. Reconciliation with our Savior
Jesus Christ has helped to empower
millions of people to recover from
addictions. You may find that faith based
addiction recovery can work for you, too.

Forgiveness
define forgiveness
Psychologists generally
as “a
conscious, deliberate
decision to release feelings of
resentment or vengeance toward a person or group
who has harmed you, regardless of whether they
actually deserve your forgiveness”. In other words,
not hurting someone
because someone hurt you.
We are sometimes
upset, insulted, misunderstood,
lied to and rejected
by our coworkers, friends, those

our family members and
struggle to forgive.
The word “forgive”
means “to wipe the slate clean,
to pardon, to cancel a debt”. When we sin against
someone, whether
intentionally or not, we seek his
or her forgiveness in order for the relationship to be
repaired. It is important to remember that
forgiveness is not granted because a person
deserves to be forgiven. Instead, it is an act of love,
mercy, and grace.
Consider for a moment the
forgiveness extended by the victims’ families

PAN ROASTED CHICKEN WITH MAINE LOBSTER
AND LUMP CRAB MEAT
ingredients
1 steamed lobster (1 1/2 pound)
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
6 scallions, finely chopped
1/4 cup white wine
1 1/2 tablespoons flour
1/4 cup heavy cream
Pinch cayenne pepper
Salt and freshly ground pepper, to taste
8 boneless chicken breast halves (about 3 pounds) with or without skin
Olive oil, for glazing
ADD CHECKED ITEMS TO GROCERY LIST
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Position rack in center.
Remove all the meat from the lobster and roughly chop, leaving some large pieces. Set
aside
Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a small skillet, sauté scallions for 2 to 3 minutes. Add
lobster meat and wine, stir quickly to combine over high heat. Drain the mixture,
reserving the liquid. Set lobster meat and scallion mixture aside. Melt remaining butter in
another skillet. Add flour and cook slowly without coloring or about 5 minutes. Add
reserved liquid and cream. Cook, stirring constantly until mixture begins to thicken. Stir
lobster meat back into the mixture, add cayenne, and season to taste. Cool mixture
completely.
Rinse chicken breasts and pat dry. Trim any fat around edges. Place breasts, 1 at a
time, between sheets of waxed paper and gently pound with a mallet until about 3/8-inch
thick. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Lightly oil a 13 by 9-inch baking pan. Place 1/4 cup stuffing on the center of the
underside of each breast. Bring the top and bottom flaps of the chicken up over the
stuffing, slightly overlapping the ends, then fold up the sides to enclose the stuffing
completely. Lay the packets seam side down in the pan and brush with olive oil.
Bake until chicken is lightly browned and feels firm when pressed, 20 to 30 minutes.
Slice each roll on the diagonal to serve.
Team Vision Outreach Tent Services
On Friday, August 7th we were blessed to have held our first of what we believe will
be many tent services. Situated on the corner of Baltic Ave and Bay Street in Atlantic
City, several yards away from where a young man lay dead two weeks prior, we were
able to minister a word of life.
The service opened with prayer from 5pm-6pm. During this time, several anointed
prayer warriors cried out loud to the Lord for divine intervention concerning the state
of brokenness and utter despair that many find themselves. Interesting to note were
the many passerby's who paused to take in what can only be described as an
electrified atmosphere. In addition were the many residents who rested on their
balconys and porches as they took in the service.
As the hour of prayer concluded, we were blessed with the musical ministry of several
anointed members of Second Baptist. Shortly there after, the preached Word of God
was ministered.
We held a second tent service on Friday, August 28th in Brown's Park. From 5pm-6pm
we welcomed people up for individual prayer. I thank God for those who ministered to
the broken hearts and discouraged souls that came up for prayer.
I truly believe that God orchestrated all that transpired. He strategically situated us
no more that several yards away from people who were actively shooting heroin,
smoking dope, marijuana, crack and drinking. Nonetheless, I take God at His Word as
He declared in Isaiah 55:10-11
For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but
watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the
sower, and bread to the eater: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth:
it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall
prosper in the thing whereto I send it.
