About the Institution
The National Museum of the Pacific War, formerly known as the Nimitz Museum, is a dynamic, growing institution that is
celebrating it's 50th anniversary in 2017. Our mission includes:
• preserve and exhibit the material history of the war in the Pacific and Indo‑China during World War II;
• support education concerning the American experience in the Pacific Area during World War II;
• preserve and exhibit the material history of Fleet Admiral Chester W. Nimitz; and,
• provide the general public, researchers, teachers and historians with a readily accessible platform for the exploration
of the War in the Pacific during World War II.
The museum complex covers nearly six acres, several museum buildings, about 50,000 square feet of exhibits and the
Nimitz Education and Research Center (a State Certified repository with over 60,000 items in the collections + an
archives and research library.)
Fredericksburg is located in the scenic Texas "Hill Country." The Museum is a State Historic Site administered by the
Texas Historical Commission and managed by the Admiral Nimitz Foundation.

Summary of Responsibilities
The Admiral Nimitz Foundation is seeking a qualified professional to serve as an Associate Curator at the National
Museum of the Pacific War. Responsible to the Curator of Collections, including assisting in the management of the
artifact and archival collections, their registration, accessioning, storage, care and organization in accordance with
accepted standards and museum ethics; assists with collections move and inventories; environmental and IPM
monitoring of storage areas and exhibition galleries, meets and helps schedule donors and researchers as needed; helps
train and supervise curatorial volunteers and interns; helps plan, install and care for exhibits; assists in Museum
programs as needed; helps maintain computer and paper records concerning collection and care of collection; assists
with booking traveling exhibits, arranging for travel, insurance, and installation.
Required Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Museum Science, Museum Studies, or a related field
is required. At least one year’s experience in Collection’s Management
required. Should be able to lift at least 40 pounds and be able to climb a
ladder. Position will require some work on weekends and after hours.
Ability to use a collections management database, especially Re:
discovery a plus.
Compensation
Salary is $2,750 to $3,000/month depending on relevant experience and
education, + health insurance and retirement savings account option.
