How many footballs will go in each bag? There are 12 people watching a match. Half of them are cheering. How many people are not cheering? Answers:1) 3, 2) 8, 3) £5, 4) 3, 5) 5, 6) 2, 7) 6, 8) 8 David has £20. He shares the money equally between his four children. How much money does each child get? Sixteen children want to go to a match. They need to split up equally and travel in two minibuses. How many children will go in each minibus? Parent Tip: By the end of Y2 your child should be very confident with the division facts of the 2, 5 and 10 times tables. If they are still not sure about division, help them to work out these problems by using counters (buttons, pasta shapes or small toys – just make sure they are all the same shape and size). Really let them take their time on this and guide them through as best you can – it takes a while to get the hang of division! Year 2 Maths
