The Rue du Petit-Champlain is a
main street of Quebec city. You

of the street it is “the Breakneck
Stairs”, the oldest stairway of the

Carnival Activities
What is the Effigy?
The Carnaval Effigy is your passport to enjoy 17 days of festivities at the main
festival site brimming with activities, sporting competitions, breathtaking entertainment and many other privileges. The Effigy is the primary source of financing for the Carnaval, the Effigy is a miniature pendant that you wear on your
outerwear. Wearing of the Effigy is obligatory to gain access to the festival sites,
for visitors 8 years of age and over.

Buy an Effigy at the regular price of $15 (taxes included) from the following:
Couche-Tard, The SAQ (starting January 22 only), Uniprix, Bonhomme’s Shop,

Are you ready to brave the frost wearing only your
swimsuit? The Carnival has a challenge for the daring
and adventurous among you. Register today for the
snow bath to test your limits and frolic in the snow.
There will be three cold baths interspersed with warm
reprieves. Be quick: places are limited!

The Ice Palace standing opposite to Parliament Building, at place de l’Assemblée-Nationale, couldn’t go unnoticed! Immense and magnificent, it houses Bonhomme
himself. This year’s palace is themed after the arrow sash
and its history. Price : children aged 8 and over must
wear the Effigy. Enjoy the fast track during weekend and
discover by yourself or with a guide, the fascinating architecture of the Hotel de Glace. 15,87$+tx

Snow sliding isn’t just for kids! Toddlers, teenagers and
adults alike will also have oodles of fun. Your family can
enjoy 7 different slides, some steeper than others. Price :

or with family, the Uniprix Ice Slide is a must! Rent a sled
on site and ride down this slope made entirely of ice.

Children and adults alike are welcome to play floor hockey on the Hydro-Québec rink! Sticks and helmets will be
provided to you on site—simply bring your energy! Effygie is required for 8 years and older. All equipment

Time to dig up your drums, trumpets, fur boots and arrow
sashes and join in this great northern celebration! Prepare to
be awed by impressive floats, marching bands, dance troupes
and, of course, Bonhomme Carnaval and his Duchesses!
