Municipal lots only
NEW for 2015: As part of a pilot program, cars
are permitted to park overnight in municipal
parking lots during the winter months. Please be
aware that during a snowfall, municipal parking
lots will be cleared of snow and cars may be at
risk of getting plowed in.

On the Street
Daytime and evenings: On-street parking is
allowed for a maximum of 5 hours.
Overnight: On-street parking is not allowed
between 1 a.m. and 6 a.m., unless otherwise
indicated by signage.
Other Places
At your driveway: Parallel parking in lay-bys
and on the street in front of your driveway is
allowed if your vehicle is not blocking another
driveway. Note: 5-hour limit applies except on
NOSPP streets where parking is permitted 1 a.m.
and 6 a.m.
* City boulevard: Vehicles are permitted
to park on the paved boulevard section of a
driveway, and may overhang on to the roadway
past the curb by 60 centimetres.
* Municipal parking lots: Vehicles are
permitted to park overnight in the parking
lots located at Lampman Park, Emerson Park,
Orchard Community Park and Pathfinder Park
until March 31, 2015.
Parking in Winter
Vehicles parked on the street during a snow
storm or before snow removal is complete will
be subject to enforcement (e.g. $100 parking
ticket and/or tow).
Parking exemptions: In special circumstances
(e.g. driveway repairs or out-of-town guests),
residents and visitors may request a parking
exemption.
A parking exemption allows a vehicle or RV to
park on the street beyond the 5 hour limit or
overnight between 1 a.m. to 6 a.m., up to 15 days
per calendar year, per licence plate.

Tip: Trailer-type RV’s must be attached
to the vehicle towing the trailer while it
is parked on the street. Trailers parked
on residential streets that are not
attached to a vehicle will be subject to
enforcement (e.g. a $100 parking ticket
and/or tow).

Lay-bys (parallel or *perpendicular): Vehicles
are permitted to park parallel or perpendicular in
the lay-bys.
Sidewalks: Sidewalks are reserved for
pedestrian use. Vehicles are not permitted to
park on any portion of the sidewalk.
Neighbourhood On-street
Parking Program (NOSPP) Streets
In designated areas of the city, vehicles
are permitted to park on residential streets
overnight between 1 a.m. and 6 a.m., seven days
a week without a parking permit. These areas
are part of the NOSPP.
Near a school: Help keep school zones safe
for children. Vehicles picking up children from
school are not permitted to park and wait in a
“no parking zone.”
Winter Parking on NOSPP streets: The NOSPP
parking designation is not in effect during a
snow storm or before snow removal is complete.
Vehicles will be subject to enforcement (e.g.
$100 parking ticket and/or tow).
* Indicates a temporary change to the city’s parking and Idling by-law approved by City Council. Temporary changes in effect until September 2015 (including during snow clearing operations).
