Cobblestones Report for Greytown Trust Lands Trust. April 2016
The Trust is required to maintain all six of the heritage buildings on the complex to Heritage
classification. Plans are underway for improvements to the Woolshed and a grant from Lotteries
commission has been applied for with notification if successful to be in June.
The Lions Club have completed the renewal of the East Street fence with the recent replacement
of the northern half.
March 29th was the anniversary of Graham Croton’s passing and this was recognised with the
unveiling of his memorial in the exhibition building.
We have a young lady as Shop assistant for four days a week and her contract has been extended
until the end of June. Siearn is a Work and Income subsidised trainee employed by the
Cobblestones Trust.
Visitor numbers have been steady and there has been groups visiting on an average of one per
week and steady sales of retail items.
Recently a group of year 13 Kuranui College students visited to gain experience to benefit their
knowledge of history. Three of them showed an interest in becoming involved in the research
and to assist as tour guides for visiting groups in the future.
We have had a number of classes from other Wairarapa schools visit since this schooling year
started and we are lucky to have Grey Tuck (retired Principal) to give these children the
experience of what school was like in the 1800’s.
The budget for gate takings for the year 1 June 2015 to 31 May 2016 was $25,000. At the end of
February the total was $20,260.00, 81% of the budget figure with still three months to go to end
of financial year.
The expenditure is at 71% which is below the budget.
