SUMMER AT THE EDGE PERFORMING ARTS CENTER LOS ANGELES, CA. My annual trip to Los Angeles will take place from June 19th-June 27th. Company, Jr. Company and Starbound dancers are eligible to attend. Please be advised; this is an adult studio (the average age of the students are between age 18-27) and dancers need to learn rather quickly, be confident enough to take class and not hesitate to go across the floor or perform in groups. I will guide them into the correct levels for their ability and be assured that I will make sure they will make good use of their time and your money. Following is a breakdown of the costs. 1. Students are required to take 20 classes during the week. $210.00 a. Required classes for Tap/Ballet/Jazz students i. Must take ballet & jazz class everyday ii. Must take at least one tap & hip hop class during the week iii. Dancers get to choose their classes with approval by Lynn b. Required classes for Jazz/Hip Hop students i. Must take jazz & hip hop each day ii. Must take at least 3 jazz-funk classes iii. Dancers get to choose their classes with approval by Lynn 2. We will be staying at the Roadway Inn, 777 Vine. I will take care of the reservations as I get a discounted rate. Rooms will be approximately $100 per night. Your cost will depend on how many people are in your room. I require an adult chaperone in each room – chaperones do not pay for their room or car expenses. 3. Food: I suggest $20 per day. There is a grocery store right next door and the hotel has a refrigerator and microwave in the rooms. Fast food is also available right down the street (subway is across the street and Panda Express is in the grocery store among many more). We usually try to go out to a sit down restaurant once during our stay. 4. Car rental/parking/gas: The cost of this will depend on how many dancers attend and how many drivers and/or cars I need to rent. You have to be 25 years old to rent a car in California. 5. Extra-Curricular: possible fun excursions. It is your decision on how much extra cash you would like to send with your dancer. a. We usually visit Venice Beach twice during our stay b. Hollywood Blvd and the Dolby Center c. The Grove / Farmers Market d. Disneyland – 1 day hopper pass $125 e. A movie (El Capitan Theater) or Universal City Walk f. Can’t forget the shopping – come on these are girls! 6. I recommend that you separate their money into envelopes that way they don’t run out of food money by spending all their money on fun (shopping). I can hold these envelopes if you deem necessary. a. Classes, Disneyland, Food, Fun If you are interested in sending your dancer and/or also attending as a chaperone please let me know by April 1st. I need to make hotel and car rental reservations.
