All our xylophones are made from quality durable outdoor timbers, sustainably sourced from
managed local woodlands in the Highlands of Scotland. There is no need to treat the timber,
and any stain is purely an aesthetic choice for the customer.
Xylophone keys are tuned at average outdoor moisture contents, and seasonal fluctuations in
tuning are likely to occur in times of highly wet/ dry conditions. As is the nature of wood, the
xylophones are susceptible to surface checks & cracks and colouring/ silvering. These matters
will, in no way will affect the strength or quality of the instrument and are merely things you
should be aware and are part and parcel of the organic nature of the instrument.
Xylophones can be made to any scale and keys can have colour coding if requested. Unless
otherwise requested the xylophones will be made to a pentatonic scale.
Xylophones come with approximately the same number of beaters as keys, e.g an 8 Key
xylophone will come with 8 beaters (4 pairs).
Please note, unless otherwise arranged, the xylophone will come ready to be self assembled.
