Starting from the 2015-2016 academic year, all successful applicants will receive 50% scholarships from the
University Board of Trustees.

Tuition and Fees & Duration of Scholarships
Master’s: 2 years – (4 semesters) (includes courses, theses and VAT)
Ph.D. and Proficiency in Art: 4 years – (8 semesters) (includes courses, preliminary qualification,
proficiency, theses and VAT)
**TÖMER fees are not included in scholarships
3. CONDITIONS AND PROCEDURES
The candidates must meet the following conditions in order to be admitted as undergraduate students at Fatih
Sultan Mehmet Vakıf University:
GENERAL CONDITIONS:
 Must be a foreign national
 Master’s candidates must have an undergraduate degree, Doctorate and Proficiency and Art
candidates must have Master’s degrees.
 Must not be a citizen of Turkey or the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (or have a dual citizenship
right of either country or for the ones who had dual citizenship but abolished either one not to have
completed all high school education in Turkey or TRNC)
 Must not have been dismissed from a higher education institute in Turkey despite meeting all other
above mentioned requirements
MINIMUM DIPLOMA GPA CONDITIONS:
Out of 100 points: for Master’s applicants their undergraduate diploma GPA’s must be a minimum of 65; for
Doctorate and Proficiency in Art applicants their undergraduate GPA’s must be a minimum of 65 (75 if they do
not have Master’s degrees) and their Master’s GPA’s must be a minimum of 75.
ALES CONDITIONS:
1. For Institute of Engineering and Sciences: Master’s applicants must obtain a minimum of 55 and Doctorate
applicants must obtain a minimum of 60 points in ALES (or GRE Math score of 610)
2. Applicants who fail to provide an ALES/GRE score may be accepted on a conditional basis; the student must
either provide the necessary ALES/GRE scores or achieve a minimum GPA of 3.0 (out of 4.0) by the end of the
first semester.
LANGUAGE CONDITIONS:
Turkish : All graduate courses are conducted in Turkish at Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakif University.
Candidates who choose to apply to Turkish medium Graduate Programs have to submit a Turkish Proficiency
Exam Score by TOMER (Turkish and Foreign Languages Research and Application Centre) or an accepted
institution. (B2-C1)
If the score is not available candidates may choose to register for FSMVU-Turkish Language Center maximum
for 2 semesters.
Students who cannot obtain a C1 certificate within 1 year of registration will have their scholarships revoked.
Scholarship rights are provided once, in the event the scholarship is revoked the student cannot obtain another
scholarship and must pay the tuition on the remaining school years.

English:
Master’s: For Civilization Studies, applicants need to hold a valid English Proficiency Exam Score TOEFL (IBT
minimum 80), IELTS (minimum 6.5), or Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakıf University English Proficiency Exam
(minimum 80).
For History of Science, applicants need to hold a valid English Proficiency Exam Score TOEFL (IBT minimum 66),
IELTS (minimum 5.0), YDS (minimum 75) or Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakıf University English Proficiency Exam
(minimum 65).
For Clinical Psychology – thesis, applicants need to hold a valid YDS (minimum 75).
PhD: For PhD Programs in Turkish , applicants need to hold a valid English Proficiency Exam Score KPDS / ÜDS /
YDS (minimum 55), TOEFL (IBT minimum 72), IELTS (minimum 5.0), or Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakıf University
English Proficiency Exam (minimum 70).
For PhD Programs required English Exam (For Civilization Studies), applicants need to hold a valid English
Proficiency Exam Score KPDS / ÜDS (minimum 80), TOEFL (IBT minimum 80), IELTS (minimum 6.5), or Fatih
Sultan Mehmet Vakıf University English Proficiency Exam (minimum 80).
For Scholarship applicants, students must provide proof of proficiency in a foreign language that is different
than their mother language and the language of education.
Arabic:
For Islamic Studies (MA and PhD) Arabic language skill is preferred.

If any of the documents listed above is in a language other than Turkish or English, then the said document
has to be translated to Turkish or English and notarized before being submitted.
