Rich Eddy’s Rockin’ Oldies Band
Tuesday, May 2, 2017
7:00 p.m.
Henry Ford Centennial Library
After years of performing as an award-winning
singer, percussionist and harmonica player in bands
and studios across the USA, James Davis had a
vision of a duo that could perform an equal, or even
better show, than a band with many more members.
To make that dream come true, he was lucky enough,
in 1986, to team up with Don Hails, a multi-talented,
award-winning musician and singer.
With their ability to play multiple instruments, and
Don’s knowledge of the latest advancements in
musical technology, they formed their band. They
are now enjoying success performing shows in
venues across the Midwest.
How did James and Don come up with the name
Rich Eddy? They thought Eddy was a real cool
name and they idolized the legendary guitarist,
Duane Eddy. Rockin Oldies is what they do; the two
men always thought they would love to be rich,
hence the name “Rich Eddy’s Rockin’ Oldies Band.”

USED BOOK SALE
Unlike last April, the weather gods smiled on us
and many of our faithful book sale patrons
ventured out for our April 5th sale and helped us
to a very respectable total of $2,563! The sales
total reported here includes our 2nd floor shelves
and Bryant sales. Many attendees snatched up
DVDs and CDs at our new, lower prices. These
bargain prices will continue, so be sure to check
out our media sections.
Our sale on May 3rd will feature gardening,
sports, and travel books. Also available will be
two complete sets of World Book Encyclopedia.
One set is from 2012 and the other is from
2013. The 2012 set will be priced at $150 and
the 2013 set at $200. A brand new set sells for
over a thousand dollars, so these slightly older
sets are a great deal at these prices.
As always, we will have a vast array of fiction
and nonfiction books, paperbacks, magazines,
vinyl, CDs, DVDs, and much more for sale!
Our young adult and children’s area will have
fully restocked shelves with books for all
interests and reading levels. We will have
clearance items in the rotunda for children and
adults, starting as low as 25 cents per book and
$1 surprise grab bags as well.
We are pleased to announce that you may now
use your credit or debit card when making
purchases at the book and media sale. A small
detour to the 2nd floor circulation desk is all that
is needed for those times when you find
yourself short of cash and can’t resist all those
bargain books!
Please plan on joining us on Wednesday, May
3rd. Thanks again for your support of FOLD
and your public library.

Recommended Reads at Self-Checkout
A new feature of the self-checkout machine at Henry
Ford Centennial Library is the addition of
“Recommended Reads” for fiction titles. As items
are added to the checkout screen, a side list of related
materials is displayed.
Once the checkout is
complete and a receipt is printed, a few of the
displayed items will print out at the bottom of the
receipt. It is a great way to discover other titles in the
collection that are similar to the title that is currently
checked out. The lists are generated from a product
called “Novelist Plus.” Take a look at the product
directly by going through the library website and
clicking on “Online Resources” under the
“Resources” dropdown menu on the orange menu
bar. It is really fun to find new authors to read based
on the titles you enjoy reading the most!
