General McLellan
General McLellan was born on
December 3, 1826, in Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania. He went to West Point
College as did Sherman and Grant
also. He also fought in the Mexican

in the presidential race, but obviously
he lost with 12 votes and Lincoln got
212 votes. When Lincoln became
president, he put McLellan in charge of
the Army called the Potamac, or the
“Little Mac”. With his troops in 1862, he
led them to Richmond, Virginia, but
failed to do so. Even though McLellan
had more men than Lee, he did not
succeed to win many battles because
he wasn`t quick enough. He stopped
Lee`s Army in the Battle of Antietam.
Lincoln replaced McLellan in 18
because he did not follow the retreating
troops from the battle. He died on
October 29,1885.
