Spring has arrived at Rock Lake Colony School, even if the weather

May started off with some excitement – a trip to the Visual Expressions Divisional Art Show! On May 5,
students loaded onto a school bus and travelled to Stonewall to see art work created by students from
all over Interlake School Division. While at the show, students had the opportunity to talk with adult
artists (a photographer and a wood carver) about how they make art. Some students also chose to do a
hands-on project and created marbled pinch pots using Model Magic clay. It was a great day!
May has also been busy with RADs and assessments as we near the end of the school year. There is still
a lot of work to complete before we have earned our summer holiday! The Grade 12s will be writing
their provincial ELA exams and getting ready for graduation. The Middle Years class worked on an
interesting chocolate project with Mrs. Ladyka, and the Early Years class wrote their own special book
about mothers for Mother’s Day.
May also ended with a special surprise – Mrs. Dallman from the South Interlake Regional Library came to
the school to present Esther with a book and a certificate to celebrate that her bookmark was one of
four winners in the library’s anniversary contest! Esther also received a laminated copy of her design.
Mrs. Dallman told us that 100 copies of Esther’s bookmark have been printed and will be distributed out
of the Stonewall library starting in September.
