Mobility has forever changed enterprise computing…and yet the mobile journey has only just begun.
BYOD has brought mobility to the forefront as users have put pressure on IT to deliver basic enterprise
mobile services – email, document access, intranet access, etc. IT wants to meet these user demands,
but not at the expense of data security. This balance of enablement versus restriction in the name of

With broad user adoption of mobility, now business leaders are reimagining workflows and processes

either built internally or by ISVs. As these apps touch regulated or proprietary data, app “containerization” is needed to ensure data protection - app level encryption with policy controls to the container (e.g.,
authentication, sharing, wiping, etc.). ISV apps need to be built on the same containerization platform as
internal enterprise apps to ensure interoperability across apps (i.e., so encrypted data passed between
apps can be decrypted by the receiving app). Moreover, distribution of internal and ISV apps will be required and will most likely have to support employees as well as external business partners, contractors,
and even customers, as necessary.
As mobility grows enterprise-wide, IT will ultimately have to adopt mobility as a core IT service, for which
there may be committed service levels. The ability to monitor mission critical IT services, identify issues

built on Good’s trusted secure architecture that connects the containerized mobile app to specific behind-the-firewall resources. This secure communication methodology employs an inside-the-firewall
Good Proxy Server that requires no open inbound ports, VPN upgrades, or DMZ infrastructure, maintaining network security and minimizing change control requirements.
The Good Proxy Server connects via a single outbound port to Good’s cloud-based authentication and
authorization services. Once a persistent connection is established between Good’s cloud and the customer’s Good Proxy server, connecting devices are authenticated by Good’s cloud, assessed for compliance status, and then authorized to access the persistent corporate connection back through the Good
Proxy to access corporate resources behind the firewall.
The Good and ISV ecosystem containerized client apps employ app-level FIPS-validated encryption to
separate corporate data from personal data and provide policy-based protection and Data Loss Prevention (DLP) from consumer apps that may leak data to the cloud.
