NB. General Netball Australia Rules Apply (ie. Stepping, contact, obstruction, held ball etc.) 1) THE GAME & TEAMS a) The game is 4 x 9 minute quarters with a 30sec changeover between 1st/2nd & 3rd/4th quarters. There will be a 2 minute break for half time b) Each team consists of 7 players on-court c) Mixed teams - 3 Males & 4 Females, there must be a minimum of 2 males on court i) 1 male must play in each third (1) 1 male in GS or GA (2) 1 male in WA or WD or Centre (3) 1 male in GK or GD d) There must be a minimum of 5 team members to commence the game. e) Substitutes can only take the court at the breaks or in the event of an injury. f) Late arrivals must wait for the next centre before they can take part in a match & must inform the umpire. g) In case of teams having players running late and using fill-in players to start the game, the late arrivals must wait until the break to take part in the game. h) Players must also play a centre court position when filling-in for another team. We rely on Umpires & players honesty with this rule. If any team feels a team is not abiding by this centre rule, please advise staff at the counter before the game commences at a break. If more than one player is filling in, the centre positions must be filled first by the fill In’s –i.e.WD and WA. 2) CENTRE PASS a) The centre pass must be received in the centre third & must be touched by a player before the ball can hit a net. A free pass will be awarded to the opposition if the ball is Un-touched. b) The whistle for the centre pass will be blown once the centre steps into the circle. Players may be warned & penalised for the deliberate delay of the centre pass. 3) NET RULING & OVER-A-THIRD a) A player must touch the ball in all 3 thirds of the court. b) A player cannot throw from the centre third directly to the back net (Over-A-Third). If a ball is thrown over-a-third, a free pass will be awarded at the back net, but must be passed or touched by a player before it goes into the centre third. c) A player can lightly brush the net, apart from brushing the net at no time may a player touch the net whether they have the ball or not. d) A player may not step, land, fall, push off or jump onto the nets. e) The ball is live off all the nets. Once a player has released the ball, that player may not touch or regain possession of the ball until it is first touched by another player, or the ball makes contact with the goal ring. f) The nets cannot be used to pin a player in such manner as to prevent movement. g) A player may not deliberately hold the ball into the net or push off with the ball to gain an advantage. 4) JEWELLERY & ADORNMENTS a) No jewellery shall be worn with the exception of a medical bracelet & wedding band, which must be taped to the satisfaction of the umpire. Nose and eyebrow piercing must be taped with strapping tape. Please supply your own and have this done well before your game. b) No hats will be worn c) Fingernails must be short & rounded to the satisfaction of the umpire &/or gloves can be worn. 6) SCORING a) For a goal to be scored on the buzzer & the umpire call of time, the ball must have passed through the goal ring. b) Teams are awarded the following on the competition table: i) WIN 4 points ii) DRAW 2 points iii) LOSS 0 points iv) FORFEIT -8 points 7) BLOOD & INJURY TIME a) If a player has blood on their body or clothing, they MUST leave the court immediately to be treated. Before play can recommence the Umpire must ensure there is no blood on the ball, the court or any other player. b) Players whether bleeding or injured have 2 minutes injury time. If the player takes longer than 2 minutes, play will resume. NB. The extra time is only ever played in Finals. If the injured player is replaced by a substitute they are not able to retake the court until the next break in play (eg. Half time). 8) GAME FEES & FORFEITS a) Match fees must be paid in full, regardless of the amount of players BEFORE the game. b) If a team forfeits a fee will be deducted from their bond i) A minimum half bond will be deducted for any forfeit ii) Full bond will be deducted for forfeits with less than 2 hours notice given to Lifestyle Plus c) All forfeits must be phoned-in to the Centre. Emailed or Facebook forfeits WILL NOT be accepted. d) Any team that forfeits two (2) times within a competition may be replaced. If your team is being replaced you will be notified by the staff. 9) MISCONDUCT a) Players, teams and spectators are to abide by the Centres Code of Conduct. Copies of this are available at the counter and online. b) NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN TO PLAYERS OR TEAMS WHO ARE SENT OFF 10) FINALS a) Teams will be required to be fully financial PRIOR to the start of their finals match. Failure to do so will result in the match being forfeited. Teams may elect to utilise their bond for the final two weeks of competition. Please contact our staff to request this prior to your scheduled match. b) Players will have been required to have played a minimum of three (3) games to have qualified for finals. Any player not marked off on their team sheet for three (3) games will not be permitted to play finals. There are no exemptions to this rule and Lifestyle Plus accepts no responsibility for the failure of teams to correctly complete their Team Card. c) Following completion of their finals campaign teams may elect to either have their bond returned or rolled over to the next season. d) Teams will be grouped into fours for the purpose of Semi Finals. This ensures that the majority of teams play finals regardless of their seasons success. e) Extra time will be played for the following i) Injury Time (Max 2 minutes) ii) Drawn games (1) An extra 10 minute quarter will be played if teams are drawn at the end of normal time. (2) If the match is still drawn after extra time players will swap ends and continue play until a team obtains a 2 goal lead. That team will be declared the winner. Fast5 ByLaws The following pertains to the Lifestyle Plus “Fast5”Competition. All previously stated rules apply with the following additions/alterations: 1) THE TEAMS a. Each team may consist of up to seven players b. There are five playing positions in each team whose playing areas are the same as in Netball: Goal Shooter (GS), Goal Attack (GA), Centre (C), Goal Defence (GD), Goal Keeper (GK) 2) THE GAME a. The game consists of four quarters of nine minutes each, with an interval of thirty seconds between the first-second and third-fourth quarters. The half time interval is two minutes. Teams shall change ends each quarter. b. Before the start of the game the Captains shall toss for choice of goal end and Power Play quarter. c. All other Centre Passes shall be taken by the team that did not score the last goal. d. The team winning the coin toss shall: i. choose goal end for the start of play ii. take the first Centre Pass in the first and third quarters iii. have first choice of a Power Play quarter. e. The team losing the coin toss shall: i. take the first Centre Pass in the second and fourth quarters ii. choose a Power Play quarter not selected by the other team. f. Substitutions may be made at intervals or at any time during play and there is no limit to the number that can be made. At all times the players must meet the requirements specified in (2). 3) SCORING A GOAL Each successful goal will score a number of goal points as specified below: a. 2 goal points: the shot is deemed to have been made from outside the Goal Circle – this means the player who takes the shot shall not have any contact with the ground inside the Inner Circle during the catching of the ball or whilst holding it b. 1 goal point: the shot is deemed to have been made from inside the Goal Circle . 4) POWER PLAY The Umpires will indicate when a team is using its Power Play.
