Welcome Back
Dear Parents, Carers and children,
Welcome back to our 4th half term. This is a very busy half term with many events planned.
We have Sharing Assemblies, Parents Evenings, World Book Day, Book Fair, Ladies Day
and an Easter Egg hunt planned for our Reception children. We welcome parents involvement and look forward to seeing as many of you attending and taking part in the up and coming events
happening in school.
World Book Day and Ladies day will be taking place on Thursday 2nd March. We look forward to seeing
children dressed as their favourite book character. We also welcome all who attend Ladies day to come
into school dressed up. Thank you in advance for your participation.
Children have new topics that they will be covering this term, which are:
Reception– Growing and Changing Year 1— Super Hero's Year 2— Wriggle and Crawl
There are many ways that you can support your child's learning at home, please remember to read through
their Year Group newsletter which contains information and helpful tips on your child's learning.
It is lovely to walk around the school and see the children enjoying their learning. I am sure they are
telling you all about it when they come home.

Head teacher
Year 2—Wild Wood
On Wednesday 22nd February, children from Year 2 went to
the wild wood to do a bug hunt as introduction to our new
topic Wriggle and Crawl.
Children loved seeing snails (most were still hibernating),
woodlice, earthworms, centipedes, slugs, ladybirds, spiders
and even a toad and a frog. They used magnifying glasses
and pots to observe closely. At school we drew a map of the
area, drew the mini-beasts we found and listed them
alphabetically.
What clever
entomologists they are!

Attendance & Punctuality
School Attendance Research shows that the more hours children spend
in school, the higher their achievement. Please remember that attendance
is not just about academics, but also about personal and social development. Children make friends, have work partners during most of their
lessons and it can be upsetting if your partner is often missing as well as
upsetting for the child that may have their partner changed due to their
absence. As can be seen from the chart below, children who do not attend each day, reduce the percentage for their class therefore their class
are unable to win half termly or full term award. So far this academic
year, the authority have issued 4 penalty notices to parents who have
taken unauthorised absence. This needs to reduce so that we have zero
penalty notices. When children are constantly late, they often miss the
beginning of lessons and therefore are unsure of what they need to learn.
This is unsettling for the child and can take the teacher focus away from
the class and can disrupt learning for all children. Parents please be
aware that you could receive a penalty notice if your child is consistently
late. Please come and talk to us if you are having difficulty getting your
child to school regularly and on time, we may be able to help.
account, please inform the
school office so we can send
you an activation letter.
We are hoping that you will all
welcome this move to charge
all items to Parent Pay and this
will be a more convenient way
of paying for school items.
Next week as part of the Reception curriculum,
children will be working on a super sentence. On
Friday 3rd March they will bring home a super
sentence book to complete some homework.
Guidance on how to support your child with this
will be in their book bags. Please do not hesitate to
speak to your child’s teacher or myself if you have
any questions or queries.
