UCSC Roll Off Box Services - Recycling

UCSC Roll Off Box Services
Updated for Fiscal Year 2016-2017
Grounds Services offers a wide range of sizes of roll-off boxes for recyclables and debris hauling
for campus construction projects. We require that the contractors using our boxes sort their
commodities by type in separate boxes: wood waste, metal, concrete, cardboard & refuse as
required by CalRecycle, as well as other certification organizations required for C&D hauling.
Grounds Services also requires a work order from the project manager to bill services and any
extra labor due to difficult delivery/pick-up of bins, overloading and any required hand sorting of
debris/recyclables due to mixing/contamination of commodities in the bins. Dumpsters can also
be contracted and used alongside Roll Off box services. Dumpster service is charged at
$0.30/pound regardless of material stream used for service.
The contractor using Grounds Services is also responsible for on-site damage to our bins and
providing safe access for our trucks to deliver and pick up bins on their jobsite. We have the right
to refuse to remove bins due to unsafe loading/access until the contractor corrects the issue.
Overloads will be charged $.062/lb and extra labor will be charged $56.27/hour.
Attached is a standard Refuse & Recycling Management Report required on a monthly basis to
track our campus landfill diversion rates. This diversion reporting is important for UCSC to keep
accurate information in furthering sustainability goals governed by the University of California
Office of the President, state and federal laws.
