Painter – Temporary Fixed Term Contract

Premises Manager
40 hours per week, usually Monday to Friday but some flexibility may be
required around access arrangements.
£11 per hour
Summary of Position:
The Temporary Painter is responsible for performing a variety of Painting and Decorating works
throughout the Heriot’s School Campus during the School’s summer holiday period. The temporary
Painter will work as part of a small team of Maintenance staff, ensuring that all necessary works are
conducted in full and to required standards prior to the next Session in August 2015.
Main Duties:
Based on the School’s main campus and responsible to the Premises Manager, the main duties of the
Temporary Painter include but are not limited to:

Executing, to a high standard, all Painting and Decorating tasks, as directed. These include:
A – Redecorating classrooms
B – External building painting work
C – Redecoration of general circulation areas
Ensure all Health and Safety procedures are adhered to at all times
Ensure the care, safe storage and stock control of all materials and equipment used
Any other duties as deemed reasonable and necessary by the Premises Manager
Skills and Experience Required:
- Painter with relevant post-qualification experience in painting and decorating
- Experience in traditional painting would be an advantage
- Thorough knowledge of Health and Safety Legislation
Additional Information:
- This is a temporary, fixed term position commencing Monday 29th June 2015 and will end no later
than Friday 28th August 2015.
- This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under
the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. As such, the successful candidate will
be required to gain membership of the PVG Scheme
