Sub: Renovation of MDP Hostel rooms at MDI Campus, Gurugram
Dear Sir,
1. Sealed tenders are invited for Renovation of existing MDI Hostel rooms in Parthenon &
Nalanda at MDI Campus, Gurugram. Please submit your Technical & Commercial bids in a
two separate envelopes. The envelop should be clearly marked as Commercial/ Technical
Bid. The tenders should be submitted in a sealed cover addressed to:

2. The tenders should reach on or before 1500 hours, 27th March 2017. The rates of items
being quoted will include the cost of material, wastage, labour etc. However, the details of
taxes to be paid should be mentioned separately. Thus the cost of item being quoted in the
BOQ will be exclusive of taxes.
3. A total 110 MDP Hostel rooms with 110 Toilets are proposed to be renovated (30 rooms in
Nalanda and 80 rooms in Parthenon building). As the hostel is occupied, only 10-15 hostel
rooms shall be handed over the renovation at a stretch and possession of other rooms shall
be given after handing over earlier rooms. This may please be noted while quoting the rates.
4. The schedules of quantities for Nalanda Hostel are enclosed at Annexure A and for the
Parthenon Hostel are enclosed as Annexure B. The plumbing and electrical schedules for the
both hostels are given in A-II, A-III, and B-II, B-III respectively. The schedule of makes is
enclosed as Annexure C. The terms and conditions are given below:5. Terms and Conditions:(a) Running advance payments against the work done not exceeding 80% of the value of
work done shall be paid on submission of bills by the Contractor.
(b) Retention amount of 5 % will be retained till the satisfactory completion of work and will
be released after 3 month of hand over of the completed work.
(c) An earnest money deposit of Rs.2,00,000/- (Rs. Two Lakhs only) shall also be submitted
along with the tender by way of Demand Draft/ Pay order favoring Management
Development Institute payable either at Gurgaon. While awarding the work, the earnest
money deposited shall be treated as security deposit and will be released after one
month of satisfactory completion of job. The earnest money deposit of unsuccessful
tenders will be refunded.
(d) TDS and WCT shall be deducted as per rules.
(e) The entire work should be completed within 180 days from the date of awarding the
work. Damage for delay in completion of the work would be Rs.2,000/- (Rs. Two
thousand only) per day subject to a maximum of Rs.1,00,000/- (Rs. One Lakh only).
Decision of the Institute in this regard would be final.
(f) The rates of extra works, if executed, shall be based on CPWD schedule of rates and for
items not covered therein shall be worked out as per prevailing market rates added with
15% contractor’s profit and overheads for which a rate analysis shall have to be
submitted by the Contractor which would be subject to approval of the Institute.
(g) The work shall be executed as per CPWD specification. The mode of measurements of
work done shall also be based on CPWD specification.
(h) First quality paint manufactured by the following firms (in the same order of preference)
shall be used and only be brought to the site in sealed containers. Contractor should also
ensure that only the required quantities of materials should be brought to the Campus.
(i) Paint & Primer - Nerolac /Johnson & Nicholson/British Paint/ Asian Paints/Berger
(ii) Snow cem - Super snowcen / Indocem/ Acrocem
(iii) Distempering - Berger / Shalimar / Asian
(i) The Quantity to be executed may vary according to actual requirement. The payment
shall be made on the basis of actual measurement of work done at the rates quoted by
the Contractor as per schedule of quantities enclosed.
(j) The splashes of white wash, painting and distemper shall be cleaned by the Contractor at
his own cost and no extra payment will be admissible for the same.
(k) The Institute reserves the right to get the whole or part of work done through one or
more parties.
(l) Water and electricity shall be supplied by the Institute free of cost.
(m) Contractor shall bring only the actual quantity of materials required after measuring the
actual area of work to be done at site.
(n) The dismantled mulba/rubbish should be disposed off outside the campus at a suitable
dumping ground at no extra cost within 7 days of completion of work or it would be got
done by the Institute at the risk and cost of the contractor and the said amount shall be
deducted from the bills of the Contractor.
(o) The work should be organized without causing inconvenience/disturbance to the
participants staying in the hostel. No claim on account of non-availability of rooms shall
be entertained and the work shall be carried out as per the rooms made available to the
Contractor from time to time. Whitewashing / distempering etc. shall be taken up by
putting polythene or other covers to protect the furniture from any splashes / damages.
The floors would be thoroughly cleaned and splashes / spots shall be washed and
removed.
(p) Contractor should make own arrangement for all tools and plants required to complete
the job.
(q) The watch and ward of materials brought at site shall be the responsibility of the
contractor.
(r) The work should be organized/carried out without affecting the normal functioning of
the Institute. There should be least disturbance for the movement of traffic inside the
Campus.
(s) The contractor must get acquainted with the proposed site for the work and study
specifications and conditions before quoting the rates.
(t) No payment will be made to the contractor for damage caused by rains or other natural
calamities during the execution of the work and no claim on this account will be
entertained. The damages, if any , occurred shall be rectified without any extra cost.
(u) At least one authorized representative should always be available at site of work to take
instructions from Engineer-in-Charge/Officer and ensure proper execution of work. No
work will be done in the absence of such an authorized representative.
(v) The contractor shall get the samples of materials approved sufficiently in advance from
the Institute. The materials brought at site shall strictly conform to the quality of
samples approved and in case of variation such materials shall liable to be rejected and
to be removed from the site within 24 hours of the rejection by the Engineer-inCharge/Officer. The Sample of electrical fittings shall be got approved before bulk
procurement by the Contractor.
(w) The Contractor, if need so arises, shall remove one or more labour /supervisor from the
premises of the Institute at the direction of the Institute.
(x) The contractor should also comply with the existing Labour Laws/License, Provident Fund
Rules and other statutory rules prevailing/applicable in Haryana State.
(y) The contractor shall take all safety precautions for the safety of his employees and the
Institute shall not be in any way liable for any damage/liability on account of any mishap
or negligence of the Contractor.
(z) Vitrified, Ceramic tiles manufactured by one of the agency like M/s, Kajaria, Somany
Orient, Bell Ceramic shall only be used. The sample of the tiles shall be got approved
before commencement of work. Good quality of adhesive shall be used for fixing the
tiles. Nothing extra shall be payable for removing the furniture from the rooms for fixing
Ceramic tiles and placing it back after completion of work.
6. The prescribed list of approved make is attached at Annexure C.
7. MDI reserves the right to accept or reject any of all the tenders without assigning any reason
what so over.

cement mortar 1:4 (1 cement: 4 coarse sand) and jointed with 'white cement slurry mixed with

Providing and laying 8mm thick ceramic tiles of approved make and quality Engineer inchargeof 450 X
300 mm sizes in dado or as required with 12mm cement mortar 1:3 ( 1 cement : 3 fine sand) jointed
with white cement , mixed with pigment to match the colour of the tiles as per design and pattern in
the Architects drawings complete . (Basic cost of tile Rs.60/-per sft.).
Providing and laying 10 mm thick tiles (jointless) of approved size ( 600 x 600 approx.), make, quality
on floor, skiriting with 12mm (avg.) thick cement mortar 1:3 mix (1cement: 3 coarse sand) and jointed
with white cement slurry mixed with pigment to match the shade of the tiles complete or chemical
adhesive of approved make including providing the joints with whole cement & matching pagments as
per design with approved quality tiles.
Dismantelling and demolishing Tiles work at all levels and heights as per direction including necessary
scaffolding etc. cleaning, removing the malba as per direction of the Architects complete.
Repair & Modification (including providing necessary lamination, polishing, inside painting etc) of
cupboard shutters with necessary hardware fittings like lock, handle, hinges etc as required. (Size 2.80
X 1.00 M2)
Providing Fixing twin mortice lock (Godrej make or equivalent) as per design after replacing the
existing lock in the main door
