goingthroughtheclassexercises,andplanning
our“Graduation”Cruiseasagroup.Evenifyou
havetakenthiscourseintheoldformatbefore,
thisisworthyourconsideration,especiallyifyou

greatsuccessstoryafteronlyhavingahandfulof
studentsoverthelastcoupleofclasses!Paul

proctorswerealsoabletoexciteafewofthe
studentsintobecomingmembers,tojoinour
activities,andconsidertakingourgreatelective
andadvancededucationclasses.Pleasewelcome

wonderfulorganization!
WearealsoplanningtoofferourAdvanced
Pilotingclass,whichwehavenotputonina
while.Wehaveseveral“Pilots”whomightbe
interestedinaddingtheskillstoplotandplan
coursesunderconsiderationoftheeffectsof
wind,weatherandthetides.Waterdepths,
bridgeclearances,andplanningfor“set&drift”
arethemajortopics,buttheclassalsoincludes
refreshersandmorein-depthreviewsofthe
elementsofplanningandplottingyourpathusing
aidstonavigation,charts,radar,weather
forecasts,tidetablesandmore.Thisclasswillbe
offeredeitherlateinthefallorearlyspring.

someofthelawsconcerningrequiredequipmentcanbeconfusingorhardto
interpret.ThatiswhytheVesselSafetyCheckprogramexists.Sothatacertified
Examinerlikemecancomeaboardyourboatandhelptoensureyouhave
everythingyouneed,includingtheknowledgeofwhattheregulationsactuallysay.
Forinstance,mostboatersdonotknowthatiftheirboatisover39.6feetin
