LORD OF THE FLIES
Casting Breakdown and Advance
Audition Information
Thank you for your interest in our production of Lord of the Flies, which will take place at The Courtyard
Centre for the Arts, Hereford, in October 2016. This page provides some general information about the
auditions and about The Courtyard.
The Play
Set during the aftermath of a terrible plane crash, a group of school children find themselves deserted on
an island with no adults in sight. Relationships are formed and arguments begin on how they will all
survive and live together in harmony. This modern masterpiece deals with issues such as bullying, survival
and the true nature of how we behave out of all our comfort zones. The novel by William Golding has
been adapted for the stage by Nigel Williams.
The Cast
This will be a pro-am production featuring three professional actors and members of The Courtyard’s
thriving Youth Theatre who will work alongside a team of creative professionals to deliver a high-quality
production in The Courtyard’s Main House. We are seeking three professional actors for the roles of Jack,
Ralph and the Naval Officer who will perform in all fifteen shows in the run. (The Youth Theatre members
will be split into two casts and will perform in alternate shows.). The casting breakdown for the three
professional roles is overleaf.
