Rescued dump kittens find home with artist Published on July 05, 2013 Robin and Hoodie, the tiny black kittens found in Robin Hood Bay landfill in St. John’s last week, have found a permanent home with artist Bobbi Pike and her family in Topsail. — Submitted photo A local artist has adopted the two kittens found in the Robin Hood Bay landfill last week. “They are absolutely adorable little balls of fur,” said Bobbi Pike. The furry, black kittens were rescued from beneath a van that was about to be crushed and recycled and they were brought to Humane Services of St. John’s. Robin and Hoodie now live with Pike in her Topsail studio/home, along with Bobbi's husband Geoff, son Alex, Shih poos Squiggles and Chiquita and Pixie, a grey tabby cat that was also adopted from Humane Services. “While both dogs (and people) are fascinated with the new additions, Squiggles, one of the Shih poos, seems to have assumed the role as den mother to the baby cats,” Pike said. The kittens’ story touched Pike. “I am an animal lover. I have always had animals in my life though I have been mostly a dog person,” she said. Pike said although she adopted her first cat about a year ago, she’s never had kittens. When found, the kittens were reportedly underweight and dehydrated, but since have recovered. [email protected]
