This is particularly relevant for those being moved off of BadgerCare who receive child support payments. st This is the last day that parents and caretakers from 100% - 200% FPL can apply for BadgerCare coverage (which ends for all parents in that income range in April). rd Kids in BadgerCare Plus (BC+) over 200% FPL will be moved to the Standard Plan, which includes more comprehensive benefits. The state begins using the federal income and household definitions (MAGI) for new BC+ applications. Thus, this is the date when childless adults can begin applying through the state for st BC+ coverage (to begin April 1 ). st Beginning Feb 1 , newly applying parents and caretakers above the poverty level are no longer eligible for BadgerCare. Those who do not qualify for an exception and who do not purchase health insurance (minus a 3 month disregard) will be subject to a tax penalty when they file taxes. This is the last day to sign up for Marketplace coverage for an April 1 start date. This is critical for those losing BadgerCare Plus coverage. This is the last day of open enrollment on the federally facilitated Marketplace, & last day to sign up for coverage through the Marketplace in order to avoid the tax penalty for not having coverage in 2014. March 31 , 2014 April 1 , 2014 MARKETPLACE This is the date by which Americans who are subject to the Individual Mandate must have health insurance in order to avoid the tax penalty for being uninsured in 2014 (unless you’re signing up for coverage on the Marketplace, in which case you won’t face a penalty as long as you sign up by this date). st Beginning April 1 , individuals will need to have a ‘qualifying event’ in order to sign up for coverage on the Marketplace prior to the next enrollment period in Oct 2014.
