We support efforts by Latin America and the Caribbean countries to reduce poverty and
inequality. We aim to bring about development in a sustainable, climate-friendly way.
Established in 1959, we are the largest source of development financing for Latin America
and the Caribbean, with a strong commitment to achieve measurable results, increased
integrity, transparency and accountability. We have an evolving reform agenda that seeks to
increase our development impact in the region.
While we are a regular bank in many ways, we are also unique in some key respects. Besides
loans, we also provide grants, technical assistance and do research. Our shareholders are 48
member countries, including 26 Latin American and Caribbean borrowing members, who
have a majority ownership of the IDB.
Our Fund for Special Operations (FSO) provides concessional financing to our most
vulnerable member countries.
Given our shareholder base and prudent management, we have a strong financial position. As
a result, the IDB is able to borrow in international markets at competitive rates and transfer
that benefit to our clients.

The PSLO network is a network of business intermediary organizations (chambers of
commerce and industry, business and trade associations, or investment promotion agencies)
working to foster trade and investment between countries with the support of the World Bank
Group’s products and services. The network consists of liaison officers - private sector
communications professionals - appointed, based in and financed by their respective business
intermediary organizations. The officers facilitate local companies’ access to WBG business
opportunities, services and knowledge and act as the voice of their national private sector in
advising the WBG on how to better engage companies on development issues.
120 PSLOs have now been appointed in 84 countries worldwide: 40 in Africa and Middle
East, 39 in Western, Eastern Europe and Central Asia, 19 in South and East Asia and 22 in
North and South America, all listed in a Directory posted on the PSLO website
(http://www.world-bank.org/business-global).
We are quite pleased to have the fourth joint PSLO business delegation to developing
countries this year with the business mission to Colombia, Peru and Haiti. This mission is the
collective effort of the PSLOs for Belgium, Canada, the Netherlands and the USA. It will
bring together a mixed-nationality business delegation to three Latin American and Carribean
countries with enormous untapped business and investment potential. The delegation will
meet with World Bank Group staff in both countries to get a perspective on the business
environment and to have an overview of the World Bank Group’s portfolio and related
business opportunities. We trust that with a mixed delegation there will be increased
opportunities for partnerships and networking, not only with Colombian, Peruvian and
Haitian companies, but also among the delegation members.
We hope this mission will be one of many such missions carried out jointly by the PSLOs as
part of our overall effort to bring business and investment to where it is most needed.

Flanders Investment and Trade

www.flandersinvestmentandtrade.com
As the Flanders Investment & Trade agency, we promote sustainable international business,
in the interest of both Flanders-based companies and overseas enterprises.
Whatever sector you are involved in, we will help you establish contact with the Flemish
companies you are looking for. This includes not only products or services you may be
sourcing, but also various types of business relationships, from joint ventures to technology
transfers.
At another level Flanders Investment & Trade enhances Flanders’ position as the gateway to
Europe for inward investors. The agency identifies, informs, advises and supports overseas
enterprises by establishing production and research facilities, contact centers, headquarters,
logistics operations and the like in Flanders, the northern region of Belgium.
The department “international financial institutions” actively searches for business
opportunities in the framework of the activities of the World Bank, the United Nations, the
European Union and regional multilateral development banks, and especially the tendering
that is a result of the projects financed by them.

Company description
A software house with quite a lot of experience. We have a variety of vertical markets
software programmed. So we have a MIS (Marketing Inform System) written for the
pharmaceutical industry and that is entirely bought by a U.S. holding company. We have
experience in Europe, Netherlands, Portugal and Spain. We want a close cooperation
agreement with a partner in a win-win relationship.
Once I was in Cuba and visited there 10 companies speaking about our software services to
offer but they were only interested in self-writing software for us. So we are looking for a win
win relationship and not only an export relationship. We have Spanish speaking people and
can best establish a partnership.
We have a sister company active in construction and maybe this is a contact point in Haiti.
We also have experience in a variety of vertical markets, for four years we were for exemple
the software house of Febiac.
We have a lot of knowledge available and we were able to bring a case to the World Bank
that we can complete this in a good relationship in this country.

Since its inception in 1978, Williams Engineering Canada (WEC) has participated in a
broad range of engineering assignments that number in excess of 30,000 projects completed
to date. From simple to complex projects, including civil/municipal projects, buildings,
industrial plant and process systems, transportation structures, and an array of consulting and
advisory services, Williams Engineering Canada offers a wealth of engineering experience.
At Williams Engineering Canada we are committed to meeting the ever-changing challenges
faced by our clients. As the world evolves, we face a new imperative to be more resource
efficient and ecologically sustainable. At Williams Engineering Canada we are dedicated to
providing innovative solutions to meet and exceed the increased environmental and economic
expectations of this and future generations. As such Williams Engineering also has built a
strong team of LEED® certified staff throughout our company. In conjunction with our
commitment to create sustainable buildings, WEC has also created a team within our own
organization dedicated to taking our business to the next level of sustainable design practices.
Williams Engineering has worked on many Canadian wind farm installations and has
provided structural designs for the turbine foundations and superstructure framing as well as
electrical grounding designs. In order to develop the most efficient and cost effective design
for our clients, Williams Engineering follows the European developed International Electrical
Commission (IEC) Standard 61400-1 which covers all aspects of wind turbine generator
(WTG) design in lieu of local standards which are not specific to this specialized area and
result in overly conservative designs.
In short we are committed to offering our clients cutting-edge engineering solutions, from
planning, to design, and through to construction.
