Belgian, American, Canadian, Dutch economic mission to Haiti 13-16 November 2011 LIST OF PARTICIPANTS John Ferriter Office of External Relations Phone: 202-623-1394 Email: [email protected] 1300 New York Avenue, NW Washington, DC 20577 United States www.iadb.org We support efforts by Latin America and the Caribbean countries to reduce poverty and inequality. We aim to bring about development in a sustainable, climate-friendly way. Established in 1959, we are the largest source of development financing for Latin America and the Caribbean, with a strong commitment to achieve measurable results, increased integrity, transparency and accountability. We have an evolving reform agenda that seeks to increase our development impact in the region. While we are a regular bank in many ways, we are also unique in some key respects. Besides loans, we also provide grants, technical assistance and do research. Our shareholders are 48 member countries, including 26 Latin American and Caribbean borrowing members, who have a majority ownership of the IDB. Our Fund for Special Operations (FSO) provides concessional financing to our most vulnerable member countries. Given our shareholder base and prudent management, we have a strong financial position. As a result, the IDB is able to borrow in international markets at competitive rates and transfer that benefit to our clients. Responsible (not in the delegation) Mittpheap Steele External Affairs North America Phone: 202-458-9195 Email: [email protected] 1818 H Street , NW Washington, DC United States www.worldbank.org The PSLO network is a network of business intermediary organizations (chambers of commerce and industry, business and trade associations, or investment promotion agencies) working to foster trade and investment between countries with the support of the World Bank Group’s products and services. The network consists of liaison officers - private sector communications professionals - appointed, based in and financed by their respective business intermediary organizations. The officers facilitate local companies’ access to WBG business opportunities, services and knowledge and act as the voice of their national private sector in advising the WBG on how to better engage companies on development issues. 120 PSLOs have now been appointed in 84 countries worldwide: 40 in Africa and Middle East, 39 in Western, Eastern Europe and Central Asia, 19 in South and East Asia and 22 in North and South America, all listed in a Directory posted on the PSLO website (http://www.world-bank.org/business-global). We are quite pleased to have the fourth joint PSLO business delegation to developing countries this year with the business mission to Colombia, Peru and Haiti. This mission is the collective effort of the PSLOs for Belgium, Canada, the Netherlands and the USA. It will bring together a mixed-nationality business delegation to three Latin American and Carribean countries with enormous untapped business and investment potential. The delegation will meet with World Bank Group staff in both countries to get a perspective on the business environment and to have an overview of the World Bank Group’s portfolio and related business opportunities. We trust that with a mixed delegation there will be increased opportunities for partnerships and networking, not only with Colombian, Peruvian and Haitian companies, but also among the delegation members. We hope this mission will be one of many such missions carried out jointly by the PSLOs as part of our overall effort to bring business and investment to where it is most needed. http://www.worldbank.org/business-global Delegates: Johan Malin Project Manager International Organizations; The PSLO for Belgium Tel: +32 2 504 87 58 Fax: +32 2 504 88 88 E-mail: [email protected] Steve Mattens Collaborator Tel: +32 2 504 87 65 Fax: +32 2 504 88 88 E-mail: [email protected] Flanders Investment and Trade Rue Gaucheret 90 1030 Brussels, Belgium www.flandersinvestmentandtrade.com As the Flanders Investment & Trade agency, we promote sustainable international business, in the interest of both Flanders-based companies and overseas enterprises.
