Assignment 3.2 – Adding and Subtracting Mixed Fractions
Adding and subtracting mixed numbers takes a couple of steps because you must still have “like
terms” in order to add or subtract.
You must first convert your mixed numbers into improper fractions, and then into like terms or
equivalent fractions with the same denominator or same bottom.
Once you have your answer you may be asked to convert back to
a mixed number in lowest terms.
