Touching Tomorrow Symposium November 11

Touching Tomorrow Symposium
November 11 - 12, 2016
“If you think in terms of a year, plant a seed; if in terms of ten
years, plant trees; if in terms of 100 years, teach the people.”
- Confucius
In 2016, Emily Griffith Technical College will be 100 years old and
will have served 2,000,000 students who have strengthened the
middle class of America.
As we take the year to look back and celebrate the prodigious
heritage of Emily Griffith, we will also look forward to the next
generation of workforce education.
Not since World War II, have we faced a time when training a work
force to fulfill the promise of America has been as significant as
it is today. From the repair of our infrastructure to the technical
services we provide to the world, future employment productivity
will shape the next century.
The Emily Griffith Foundation and Emily Griffith Technical College
will take advantage of the centennial celebration to look into the
future of workforce education.
On November 11 and 12, 2016 we will convene twenty of the
great educators in America to create a road map for the next
generation of technical education. In partnership with the Vail
Symposium, there will be a full day of private presentation and
discussion on the pedagogy, practice and policy of the future of
workforce education and development. The Touching Tomorrow
Symposium will conclude with a public session and a conversation
of the workshop results.
The product of this one-time event will be a white paper, a
proclamation, which will be delivered to the President-elect and
administration as well as Colorado leaders in education. This will
set a direction for our leaders to follow - the result of an in depth
and intelligent examination of the forces that will shape the future
of the middle class and our economic destiny.
