Stress can be a positive or
negative REACTION to something that happens in
your life. It is not completely preventable but it is
manageable. Most of our stress comes from things
that seem to be out of our control. It makes us
feel overwhelmed and unable to cope. It can
cause physical pain, emotional distress,
psychological imbalance. It is important for college
students to learn simple management techniques
and the ability to balance multiple roles and
priorities.

Have you experienced the
cleansed feeling after a good
laugh? Laughter provides a
physical and emotional release. Laughter
reduces the level of stress hormones like
cortisol, epinephrine (adrenaline),
dopamine and growth hormone. It also
increases the level of health-enhancing
hormones like endorphins, and neurotransmitters. Best of all laughter connects
us to other people and social support is
one of the best ways to reduce stress.
