Recommended Reading List for 5th Class
The following books come highly recommended for 5th Class students to read and enjoy during the summer
holidays and on into the academic year. Remember your local library is well stocked with children's
literature and it is possible to order a specific book if it is not on the shelf. Let your children see you
reading. They need to see you engaging with books and enjoying your own reading. “Crossover Books”
(children’s books which are also read and enjoyed by adults) like Northern Lights, by Philip Pullman and The
Curious Incident of the Dog In The Night-Time, has shown that adults enjoy reading children’s books too.
