Course Section Numbers
Course section numbers have been revised for easier identification of the course location.
Three or four characters (letters and numbers) will be used to denote the section number.

Locations used in Section Coding:
B=Butler County Community College
C=Clarion Campus
V=Venango College Campus
P=Pittsburgh Nursing site
W=Web based
X=Other
Examples of new section numbers:
B01 - course meets at Butler County Community College
C01 - course meets on the Clarion Campus
V01 - course meets on the Venango College campus
P01 - course meets at West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh (reserved for Pittsburgh site Nursing students)
W01 - web course available to all students (typically used for summer and winter intersession)
*W01C - web course available to all students (not available to on-line degree or dual enrollment)
*W01W- web course reserved for on-line degree program and dual enrollment students
*W01V - web course reserved for Venango College programs/students.
Notes attached to courses will provide additional information (i.e. location, sections reserved for
specific student groups, special registration process, and meeting dates for courses with dates that are
outside the standard semester dates).
Collaborative Courses
Collaborative courses provided by other Pennsylvania State System schools will include a letter from the
name of the other school in the section number (for example: E for Edinboro, S for Slippery Rock, etc.)
with notes for additional information.
Graduate sections of 400 level courses
Graduate sections of 400 level courses will be denoted with a G following the course catalog number
(ex: SPED 418G-C01)
