Systems, which we invented, designed and introduced
to the market all those years ago. Today we are the
main producers of Dry Verge Systems, supplying our
product range throughout Ireland and the UK under
the Kytun™ brand.
With very close ties to some of the leading producers
of Roofing and Ventilation products from all over the
world we offer an extensive range of quality products,
which we stock and distribute throughout Ireland and
the UK.

Why avoid Mortar?
Mortar has been the traditional method for fixing roof
systems such as verges, ridges and valleys for many
years.
Disadvantages of Mortar on a roof:

Regulations (BS5534) now state that all Verges, Ridges,
Valleys and Hips must be fixed using at least one

What is Dry Roofing or Dry Fixing?
Over the years systems have been developed to do
away with the need for Mortar (Cement) on Roofs. This
is refered to as Dry Roofing or Dry Fixing. The areas
on a roof that are usually fixed with using mortar are
the verges (gables), ridges, hips and valleys. The most
common dry fix products are manufactured using
either aluminum. PVC, steel, screws or clamps.

The Kytun Slate Dry Verge System permanently secures slate applications on gable ends protecting
the verge from wind uplift and rain. The Slate Dry verge System can be used with both interlocking slates
and double lap natural or fibre cement slates. The components are manufactured from high grade preprimed polyester coated aluminium, galvanised metal & high durability extruded UV inhibited PVC-U.

The Kytun Retro-Fit Slate Dry Verge System trim is ideal for roofs to which slates have already
been fixed, to prevent slates from wind uplift. It is installed by placing the trim over the edge of
the slates and face fixing into the barge boards.

The Dry Verge System is designed for use with most large profiled
interlocking slates and tiles (including larger clay tiles) laid at a gauge
of between 265mm and 345mm and are suitable for use on new build
or refurbishment projects.
Everything you need for a standard roof is in our new Dry Verge Kit
(including both angled and half round caps).
Colours Available: Grey, Brown, Terracotta* and White*

The Slate Valley Trim is specifically used for a dry roof valley application. Due to the high volume of water
travelling down the valley a patented water drip and multiple outlet system runs along the trim.
Aluminium Valley Troughs are an excellent alternative to lead, more cost effective, tougher, and more
resistant to accidental damage. Reduces installation time over traditional methods.

Continuous Rafter Trays are a simple but effective way of preventing
loft insulation from being pushed up to the underside of the roofing
underlay and will maintain a clear ventilation path into the roof void
from the eaves. The rafter trays will be suitable for 10,000mm²/m or
25,000mm²/m continuous eaves ventilation.

EAVES PROTECTOR
A simple and effective product to prevent the exposure of the roofing
underlay at the eaves, which leads to long term degradation of the
underlay. The eaves protector, due to its rigid nature, prevents ponding

All concrete will retain an element of moisture within its mass after the construction process, and it is
important that once the roof is waterproofed, there is still a way for water vapour to escape from the
concrete slab. If not, there is a risk that this retained moisture can build up pressure points beneath the
waterproofing membrane causing the waterproof seal to bubble, blister or even burst. Therefore, vents
are an essential part of a waterproofed concrete deck. Vents should be placed at least every 25m2.

PERMAVENT EASY SLATE
Permavent Easy Slate eliminates the angle of
creep and allows slates to be laid on a roof
with a pitch as low as 12 degrees.
This improves the ventilation of the roof through the
slates when used with a breather membrane.
The Easy Slate solution also helps cushions the slates
and reduces breakage.
FLEXIM ROOF MORTAR
Flexim is a ready-to-use, storm proof roof putty that stays flexible. Roof putty has proven itself
to be a reliable tile fastener and the best alternative to conventional mortar.
Flexim roof putty can be used for new construction, re-roofing, repairs and sealing onto
concrete, clay and other types of tile, including natural and fibre cement slate.
After installing, Flexim roof putty is instantly waterproof and will always retain its
flexibility. Flexim roof putty is unaffected by the contraction or expansion of the
roof or by any uplift from wind on the tiles.

BRICK CAVITY TRAYS
AT Abutment Trays offer preformed cavity tray solutions at the junction where the sloping edge of a pitched roof abuts a wall. The
need for a tray at this point is not always fully appreciated; flashings and soakers are not sufficient. Below the roof line the external
leaf of brick or blockwork becomes an internal wall, so it is necessary to prevent any moisture that penetrates the outer leaf from
runningdownandintothebuilding.NHBCStandardsfor‘Externalmasonrywalls’section6.1-D6(a)andBS8215:1991‘Designand
installationofdampproofcoursesinmasonryconstruction’specificallyrecommendtheuseofpreformedabutmentcavitytrays.
Intra Weep AT Abutment Trays are manufactured from polypropylene and are available with optional factory-fitted AluFlash or lead
flashings, avoiding the need to cut and dress flashings on site.

HORIZONTAL CAVITY TRAYS
HT Trays are also available with factory fitted AluFlash* or code 4 lead flashings to BS EN 12588: 2006, for use at the abutment
of a lean-to or flat roof with a wall. HT trays fitted with AluFlash are supplied with 225mm flashings suitable for all applications.
Long or short lead flashings are available to dress down over the roof covering in accordance with Lead Sheet Association
recommendations as follows: - long flashings: roof pitches below 30º - short flashings: roof pitches of 30º and above. For flat roofs
usetheshortflashingtocovertheroofupstandbyaminimumof75mm.Wherehigh-levelventilationisrequired,useHTTrayswith
short flashings and the MR50 Monovent.
