Maths
Our work in English will be based around the
Ancient Greece. We will be reading about
myths and legends and writing our own myth.
We will be writing explanation and gather
information to write reports. We will also read
and write Greek poetry.
We will continue to use the Singapore Maths
approach in class.
This term we will be learning about length
volume, mass, money, time. We will continue
with our problem solving focus and will begin
to use the bar method to solve more
complex problems.
History
We will be exploring ANCIENT GREECE!
We will look at who they were and what
they did. We will learn about stories from
history, stories about Greek Gods and will
look at major events of Ancient Greece.
Year 3
Spring Term
Geography
We will be locating the world’s countries on
maps. We will find out the differences and
similarities of Greece and the UK throughout
the study of human and physical features. We
will use maps, globes and digital mapping to
locate and describe features.
Science
Light
We will be learning about light, reflections
and shadows. We will learn about different
sources of light. We will work scientifically
to investigate reflective materials.
Forces and magnets
We will learn about forces, friction and
magnetic attraction. The children will work
scientifically to investigate friction, over
different surfaces. We will identify
magnetic materials. Furthermore, we will
conduct an investigation into the strength
of different types of magnet.
Art and Design Technology
We will link our Ancient Greece work to art
and DT. We will be looking at Greek
patterns, pots and images. We will design
and make our own Greek pot from clay.
PE
Music
We will be listening and responding to music,
creating soundscapes and learning new
songs.
Computing
We will be designing, writing and debugging
programmes. We will use sequences and
repetition in our work. We will work to
detect errors in algorithms.
Design, Discover, Inspire –
Ancient Greece
SMSC (Spiritual, Moral, Social,
Cultural)
We will be learning about the
rights of a child, daily P4C
sessions and taking part in
healthy schools and safer
internet day.
We will be focusing on Gym in P.E this
term. We will learn how to handle the
apparatus safely. We will use the
apparatus to travel, balance, roll and
jump. We will be creating individual,
group and class routines using these skills
R.E
We will be answering the question:
- Why do people pray? (Christian, Islam and Hindu focus)
Children will learn about the practice, symbols, words
and significance of prayer. We will be looking at which
places are special and why and what makes some
places sacred.
