THE church is the dearest place on
earth. Being part of a church is the
most happy and hard, fulfilling and
frustrating thing in the world. It is
happy and fulfilling because it is
where God dwells. It is hard and
frustrating because it is made up of
broken people.
THE DEAREST
PLACE ON EARTH
Being part of St. Clement’s is a
particularly happy and hard, fulfilling
and frustrating thing. There is an
uncommon unity at St. Clement’s.
Our unity is in Jesus Christ. St. Clement’s is centered on the person and work of Jesus Christ. Our vision
is to spread a passion for Jesus Christ in Manchester, the UK and the world. Our happiness and
fulfillment is found in knowing Jesus Christ. To the extent we are focused on him is to the extent we will
be happy and fulfilled. Please pray for our unity. (Psalm 122:6).... article continues on page 2

Emotions: Living Life in Colour, Graham Beynon
Some of us feel enslaved by our emotions, while others of us struggle to work out
whether we feel anything at all. But what does the Bible have to say about it? A lot, it
turns out! For example, Jesus experienced the full range of human emotions – grief,
joy, anger, distress – yet he never sinned. He never lost control of himself. Instead, he
clung on to the eternal perspective we have in the gospel. And so our focus shouldn’t
be on feeling good all the time, or on blocking out our emotions, but on being more
Christ-like in our emotions.
Intended for Good: The Providence of God, Melvin Tinker
How can we know that God really is good? Why do bad things happen to Christians?
Can I miss God’s will for my life? This is a great little guide to a hefty topic, with loads
of helpful stories and illustrations.
A New Name, Emma Scrivener
This is a gripping autobiography of a young woman battling anorexia, but it’s also much
more than that. What does it really mean for my identity to be in Christ? And how
does that liberate me from insecurity, from my need to be in control, from selfdestruction? I couldn’t put it down!
The Cross Centred Life, C.J. Mahaney
It’s all too easy to lose sight of the gospel. This book will encourage you to keep the
main thing the main thing, no matter what!
Shining Like Stars, Lindsay Brown
Inspirational stories of students whose faithfulness has had a far-reaching impact.

NEW AMERICAN DINER OPENS AT LIME SQUARE
Marco Reas is an amazing American diner with lots of choices of food
to choose from!! There are so many things to choose. From Nutella
milkshakes to cheese and bacon fries, also there is about 20 different
flavours of ice cream.
The customer service is brilliant!! They are so quick with your orders.
The nice thing that they do is if they make a mistake (which they
hardly do) they will give you something for free.
I have been twice since it opened, once with our friends, and once with just my
family. The first time I went I got a Reese’s buttercup milkshake and the second
time I went I got a slushy and the cheese and bacon fries. With the slushes you can
get free refills. I highly recommend it with all of its foods and low prices.

Revive my Heart - a worship song by Gav MacDonald
THIS song was birthed
out of a passion for
revival which the Lord
has stirred up in me
during my time in
Stornoway, Scotland in
2012.
Whilst
in
Stornoway, I sat under
Gav & Bethany MacDonald
the teaching of Tommy
McNeil, a minister in the Church of Scotland,
and first heard about revival and the history of
the Barvas revival in Stornoway 1949-5 and it is
ever since then that I have remained
impassioned about revival. I believe revival is
something that all believers should be
passionate about, for although the word may
have some negative connotations it essentially
speaks of God moving in His people in such a
way that their hearts and desires are turned
unto the Lord. During a revival there is
repentance, forgiveness, commonly there is
healing both spiritual and bodily and salvation.
From this position and thereafter what
commonly takes place is a great harvest with
many lost and wandering souls being ushered
into the Kingdom of God. What believer
wouldn’t want this?
Recently God challenged me regarding my
desire to see revival. He spoke about the
necessity for revival to take place in my own
heart and my own home, before concentrating
on seeing revival take place in the Church.
It is out of the aforementioned that this song
was written. It speaks of us turning to God and
away from our own selfish desires. It asks for
God’s help through His Spirit and His Word in
defeating the enemy in His attempts to pull us
away from God. The Chorus is a petition to the
Lord to bring revival to our own lives, the Church
and beyond. May this song bless the Lord and us
as we worship Him together. Amen.
Revive My Heart
Verse 1
My heart longs to give, give all I am to you
But this life I live is so centred on me and not you
Help me to confess, and turn my eyes to you
Lead me in righteousness, come spirit awaken
Pre-chorus
Spirit, come break these walls
Keeping my darkness from your light
Help me to run this race and fight this fight
Chorus
Come, revive my heart,
Revive your church and more
Bring heaven to earth by your Spirit
Bring a harvest like never before
Verse 2
When the enemy tricks me with all his lies
May truth set me free and may victory be my final cry
When you take me to where you’d have me be
May I remain in you, come spirit awaken
FAMILY NEWS
The Johnson family are delighted to announce the arrival of a
beautiful baby boy! Way Johnson was born on 15 April 2016. Want to
know the meaning behind the name? It points to John 14:6: "Jesus
said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the
Father except through Me.'" Talk to Ope and Olumuyiwa to find out
more!
Congratulations to the new Mr and Mrs Burton! Paul and Katie were
married at St Clements on 4 June.
Also marrying this summer are Phil Steventon and Becky Else on 20
August in Harrogate, and Chris and Hazel at St Clements on Friday 22
July.
Return of the Mackies!
Our very own Mackies will be paying us a visit from Pakistan
later this summer. Dave, Mary, Reuben and Dora have for
the last several months been living in one of Pakistan’s major
cities, learning Urdu and serving the church in outreach and
discipleship. If you want to know more of what they’ve
been up to since we sent them off in September, there will
be a chance to ask questions and hear more after the
evening service on 3 July.
