Estimados padres:
La próxima semana, nuestros estudiantes de 8º grado estarán a cargo de la
venta de los bastones de caramelo (Candy Cane) cada mañana y durante el
almuerzo. El costo de cada bastón de caramelo es $ 0.50, con las ganancias
destinadas se va a ayudar a las familias necesitadas en Navidad. Invitamos
a su hijo (s) a comprar algunos bastones de caramelo para enviar a amigos
y familiares y recaudar dinero para esta buena causa. Todos los bastones de
caramelo serán pasados a los estudiantes el viernes 9 y diciembre. Los
padres están invitados a comprar bastones para su hijo y escribir una nota
especial a ellos también si así lo desean. Éstos se pueden comprar en la
oficina de la escuela. Además, el viernes, 9 de diciembre se designó un
día especial sin uniforme por $1. Estos fondos también se destinarán a
ayudar a las familias.Se anima a todas las familias a participar!

El próximo jueves planee una noche con amigos y familiares en Mac
Pizza en Mariemont y apoye el programa de atletismo de Santa Cecilia.
Sólo tiene que presentar este cupón y el 25% de las ventas totales será
donado a nuestro programa atlético! Esperamos ver a muchos
feligreses y familias de la escuela el 8.

Comienzan las Vacaciones de Navidad
El personal de la escuela tendrá su fiesta de Navidad en la tarde, por lo
que este es un medio día para los estudiantes; aunque hay servicio de
autobuses por la mañana, NO habrá transporte de autobús de la tarde
y NO hay Latchkey. La hora de salida este día es a la 1PM; desayuno
y el almuerzo estarán disponibles.

Venta Anual de Baston de Candy Cane)
Estudiantes de octavo grado venderán bastones de caramelo a $ .50 por
cada uno comenzando el lunes, 5 de diciembre y finalizará la mañana del
viernes, 9th diciembre; todos los bastones de caramelo serán entregados a
cabo este viernes por la tarde. Si usted quisiera comprar un bastón de
caramelo y escribir una nota a su hijo, puede hacerlo en la oficina! Al igual
que en el año anterior de las ganancias de la venta serán combinadas con
los esfuerzos del personal y parroquiales para ayudar a las familias

Concierto de Navidad
Jueves, 15 de de diciembre de 1:30p.m.-2:45 p.m.
El hermano Bob está ocupado preparando a los estudiantes PK-8
para su concierto de Navidad, que está previsto que se realizará el
jueves 15 de diciembre a 1:30 p.m. en el gimnasio de la escuela. No
se permitirá que los estudiantes vistan el uniforme en este día. Este
será un día de vestir bien; no jeans, ni pantalones cortos o camisetas.
 Días de Calamidad 
Padres, con el clima invernal seguro de estar en el horizonte, por favor en cuenta
que si la escuela necesita cancelar o enviar cualquier alertas relacionadas, los
vamos a hacer por medio de nuestro sistema One Call que permite a los padres
recibir mensajes a través de llamada telefónica, texto, y/o correo electrónico. Por
favor asegúrese de que la oficina principal tenga actualizada toda la información
de contacto para asegurar que reciba mensajes importantes de la escuela.
Además, en caso de cancelar las clases debido al clima, los padres pueden

Deportes de invierno listo para comenzar
Los partidos de baloncesto de los chicos de invierno van a comenzar este fin de
semana en toda la ciudad. Este año Santa Cecilia alineará equipos de 3/4 º
grado, 5to grado, 6/7 ° grado, y octavo grado. Los horarios se pueden encontrar

Cecilia. Santa Cecilia también alineará a dos equipos femeninos, 3/4 º grado y
7/8 º grado. Estos horarios se darán a conocer la próxima semana por la liga.

What’s coming in the next week….
Preschool

Next week we will continue to celebrate Advent as well as reindeer! We will read How the Reindeer
Got Their Antlers, Uncles and Antlers, and Mooseltoe. We will make a reindeer craft using our hands
and make a fun reindeer snack! Students will be introduced to the letter ‘Tt’, the number 10, the color
white and hexagons. In Religion, we will continue to discuss Advent and what it means to wait as well
as who we are waiting for. We will talk about Saint Nicholas and celebrate Saint Nick’s Day on
Tuesday the 6th! We will also talk about giving to others rather than receiving during the holiday
season. We will decorate cookies to give to Mr. Kenny and Mr. Al to thank them for all they do for us at
school (shh…it’s a secret, don’t tell them!) We will also deliver cards and candy canes to a prayer
group from the parish on Wednesday morning to tell them all we learned about the legend of the candy
cane from last week!
Kindergarten

In reading, we will be focusing on letter Cc and the sound /k/. We will focus on the sight word me this
week. We will also continue to review previously learned letters and the sounds they make. In math, we
will continue our measurement units. We will introduce weight, and compare items in the classroom and
in the real world. In Religion, we will continue to discuss Advent and what it means to prepare for the
Birth of Christ. In social studies, we will discuss how holidays are spent in Mexico and Canada.
Grade 1

Next week during social studies and religion we will “visit” England and Germany to discover how they
celebrate Christmas as a part of our Holidays Around the World unit. In religion we will celebrate many
feast days. On the 6th we will await St. Nick’s visit to our class, on the 8th we will learn about Mary’s
Immaculate Conception and on the 9th we will explore St. Juan Diego’s devotion to Our Lady. In math
the students will be assessed on their knowledge of place value and comparing numbers with >,<, or =.
In reading we will continue with long vowels and how magic e changes a word’s meaning and sounds.
These sounds are the focus of our spelling test on Friday.
Grade 2

Next week we will continue Holidays around the World. We will also continue working on adding two
digit numbers. Please work with your child on basic facts in math. It is very important that your child
knows these so they can be successful in their math skills. It can hinder your child's math progress
when adding two and three digit numbers. We will continue with the same story and have a spelling and
reading test on Friday.

Religion - Students will prepare for Reconciliation on Dec. 12th. Students will read and learn about
Juan Diego
English - Students will proofread with a partner. They will write a story about “The True Meaning of
Christmas”.
Reading – Students will read and discuss “Young Thomas Edison”. Test on Wed., Dec. 7th.
Students will practice for the state test next week.
Vocabulary - invention, experiment, laboratory, genius, gadget, electric, signal, occasional
Students will be able to identify the word, use the word in a sentence, and match the word to its
definition. Quiz on Wed., Dec. 7th.
Spelling - talk, cross, awful, law, cloth, cost, crawl, chalk, also, raw, salt, wall, lawn, always
Red Words: people, who, only, water
Students will concentrate on words that have the vowel sound in talk. Test on Wed., Dec. 7th.
Science / S. Studies - Students should be working on their Invention Project at home. Project is due
on Wed., Dec. 14th. We will continue to discuss inventions and Thomas Edison in class.
Math - Students will learn the Associative Property of Multiplication, Patterns on Multiplication table,
and Multiply 8’s and 9’s. They will continue to be tested on their Multiplication Facts.
Grade 4








Religion – Students will do the review unit 3 on chapters 10, 11 and 12.
English – Students will continue to study sentences and nouns. They will study the spelling pattern for
the long o.
Reading – Students will continue the Mr. Popper’s Penguins novel study. They will focus on the setting.
Science – Students will learn how environmental changes can be helpful and harmful, and how
humans impact the natural world.
Math (Wispé) – Students will take a test on all forms of adding and subtracting whole numbers.
Math (Musselman) - Students will continue reviewing subtraction and regrouping. We will test on
Addition and Subtraction with regrouping.
Social Studies – Students will be tested on Chapter 1- Ohio’s Early History, through the French and
Indian War.









Religion – Students will continue to study the different parts of the mass.
English – Students will continue a grammar unit on nouns.
Reading – Students will continue the Best Christmas Pageant Ever novel study. They will focus on
narrator’s point of view.
Science – Students will take a Unit 4 test early in the week. Students will begin learning how energy
moves through ecosystems and the roles organisms play in that process.
Math (Wispé) – Students will take their test on long division and begin multiplying multiple multi-digit
whole numbers.
Math (Musselman) - Students will add, subtract, multiply and divide with decimals to thousandths.
Social Studies - Students will begin to study the first colonies that were formed in North America.
