The Gupta Monday: September 14, 2015 Standard EQ Lesson Opener Procedures/ Strategies Lesson Summarizer Materials Needed Differentiation SSWH2 The student will identify the major achievements of Chinese and Indian societies from 1100 BCE to 500 CE. a. Describe the development of Indian civilization; include the rise and fall of the Maurya Empire, the “Golden Age” under Gupta, and the emperor Ashoka. e. Explain how the geography of the Indian Subcontinent contributed to the movement of people and ideas. How did the ‘Golden Age of India’ create the foundation for modern India? 15min 1. Bell Ringer: The students will complete the daily bell ringer found on my OLC. 2. Activator: The students will watch the crash course video about Ashoka. 35 min 1. The teacher will distribute the graphic organizer, Gupta Culture to the students. 2. The teacher will give a Nearpod presentation about Gupta culture. 3. Students will fill out the graphic organizer as the teacher goes over the power point and will be part of their notebook. 5 min Top 5: The students will list what they think are the top 5 facts of this lesson on the back of their graphic organizer. Computer and internet access The Gupta Culture graphic organizer and power point. Students may come to tutoring for one on one help. Students may review presentation at their leisure from my OLC. Students may complete graphic organizer in their own words.
