According to Theodore Roosevelt, “The most important ingredient in
the formula of success is knowing how to get along with people.” In today’s workplace, high tech has virtually taken over and no one seems
to have time for high touch. However, a recent study indicates only 15
percent of the reason people get, keep or move ahead in a job is determined by technical skills and knowledge. The other 85 percent has to
do with people skills and people knowledge. Maybe Teddy was on to
something. Come to “The People Puzzle” to hear Craig Vernard share
skills that will help you understand your own communication style as
well as the styles of the people with whom you need to effectively
communicate. Solve the people puzzle by learning how to bring high
touch back into the high tech environment by attending “The People
Puzzle”.

University Read MOre
March 16, 2004
5:00 to 6:00 pm.
Campus Ministry Lounge,
Wuller Hall
The Women’s Commission is
getting on the Read MOre
bandwagon. This spring hundreds of Missourians will be
reading “Mississippi Solo” as a
part of Read MOre, Missouri’s
statewide book club.
Dr. Carolyn Reitz will lead the
Saint Louis University community in a discussion of
“Mississippi Solo” on March
16th from 5:00 to 6:00 pm in
the Campus Ministry Lounge,
Wuller Hall. Originally published in 1998, “Mississippi
Solo” is an account of Eddy
Harris’ trip down the length
of the Mississippi River. Mr.
Harris, a native of Kirkwood,
tells his tale in what has been
described as “a lean, muscular, sinewy story, at once naïve, wise and entertaining.”
The book is available at local
bookstores, including the Barnes & Noble in Busch Student
Center, or can be borrowed
from Pius XII or other local li-
braries.
Read MOre was begun in 2002
as way to promote reading
and prompt community discussion of issues, history and
the merit of a single title. Previous selections include
“Enemy Women” by Paulette
Jiles and “Farewell to Manzanar” by Jeanne Wakatsuki
Houston and James D. Houston.
