Winter 2015 Non-Profit Org. U.S. Postage Millard Public Schools Foundation 5225 S.159th Ave. Omaha, NE 68135 PAID Omaha, NE Permit #626 A publication of the Millard Public Schools Foundation The school year is off to a great start, and we are thankful for many things. We are thankful for a dedicated board of directors who offer their time, talent and treasure to make our Foundation one of the best in Omaha. Board members are diligent about meetings and serving on committees that help determine the direction of the Foundation, including specific grants, scholarships, programs and recognition events. We are thankful for our dedicated Early Childhood and Kids Network staff who care for over 2,500 children each and every day. They offer learning activities as well as fun and recreational activities for children in preschool - 5th grade. They bridge the gap for parents and provide a safe and caring environment for these children. We are thankful for a dedicated Foundation staff that helps to coordinate the programs and grants that are a big part of the Foundation mission. During the month of November all 25 Kids Network locations are collecting school supply donations. Project Wee Care will distribute donations to children in our community in December. We are thankful to the families and employees that help make our partnership with Project Wee Care a success in directly helping those in our community. Early Childhood Education Center October was Fire Prevention & Safety Month! What better way to learn about fire safety then to have our community firefighters come out and teach the children about fire prevention and safety. The Millard Public Schools Foundation Early Childhood Education Center is so thankful that our local fire department was able to take time out of their busy schedule to spend a morning with us. The children learned about what to do in case of a fire, how to talk to mom and dad about a fire safety plan and watched the firefighters as they put on their full fire gear. However, the best part of the presentation was when all the children were able to go outside and see the big red fire truck up close and they even got a chance to sit in the fire truck. Thank you again to Fire Station #63!
