Objectives:
The students will be able to identify adjectives (90% on word processing assignment)
and demonstrate the understanding of correct adjective use by increasing the number of
adjectives used in each assigned spelling word sentence (at least two per sentence).

punctuation, and sentence structure.

Teacher will have students go to “Adjective Quiz”
Students will take adjective quiz in pairs and then get results independentcomputer aided instruction)
Results will be printed so that teacher can assess student success
Day 3

Teacher will lead a review on adjectives with overhead of several sample
sentences with and without adjectives.

Students will identify sentences from overhead with adjectives (direct- mini
lecture)
Teacher will give directions to students on how to develop five sentences with
using their spelling words and adjectives (dictionaries and thesauruses will be
provided for this activity)
Students will use their spelling words to write five sentences on paper which
will include their spelling words as well as two adjectives (direct- drill and
practice)
Teacher will have students evaluate each others work and check for the spelling
word as well as two adjectives per sentence
Teacher will give directions on how to access Microsoft Word in order for the
students to type their five sentences
Students will follow teacher’s directions and type the five sentences in Word
(independent- computer aided instruction)
Teacher will collect printed sentences and then give to other students as a quick
quiz
Teacher will have students highlight adjectives in sentences and underline
spelling words
Students will follow directions and quiz can serve as a form of evaluation
(direct- evaluation)
Assessment/Evaluation:
Formative: Students will be monitored while navigating through the Power Point
presentation to see how well they are grasping the basic concept of adjectives. On Day
2 students will be observed taking the adjective quiz online. Modifications in Day 3’s
lesson may be necessary depending on the observations made during Days 1 and 2.
Summative: Day 3 activities will serve as the “end” assessment. Students will use
what they’ve learned about adjectives to develop well-written sentences and they will
also be able to identify adjectives when they switch papers. At this time the two
sentences per sentence can be observed as well as identifying them 90% of the time.
