No T Nox is a clear lubricating GEL containing a spermicide. This gel is safe and
pleasant for the application to contraceptive diaphragms and cervical caps.

Nonoxynol
9
is
a
well
documented spermicide which
has been used for this purpose
for many decades and is of
proven efficiency. Diaphragms
and caps do not make a perfect seal against the cervix, and it is possible for them to
dislodge during intercourse. Thus, sperm may get past the physical barrier. For this
reason, both devices are used with No T Nox gel. When both the diaphragm or cervical
cap are used with the No T Nox gel they serve both as a physical and chemical barrier.
This enhances prevention of pregnancy. A small amount of gel may also be applied to
the vagina.
The hydrophilic gel base (which contains no perfume) is compatible with the mucous
membranes and causes no irritation. It does not damage latex or other materials used
in the diaphragm or condoms. Note that products containing petroleum (Vaseline and
other paraffins) compounds should never be used with rubber latex.
Care:
Toxic shock syndrome has been associated with the use of vaginal contraceptives,
especially if they left in place for long periods. It is very important to make sure that the
diaphragm or other contraceptive device are kept scrupulously clean. No T Nox does
not prevent HIV infection nor is it 100% efficient in preventing pregnancy.
Supply:
The gel is supplied in bottles containing 45 gram. It is important to provide such
products in quantities which will probably be used in a short space of time, in order to
minimalise possibilities of cross-infection. Always re close the bottle, and it is advisable
to wipe the outer surface of the bottle after each use with a dry tissue. It is good
practice to discard opened bottles after a months use.
