Shannon Anderson
I had the opportunity to serve on the Legacy Jr. High Community Council for several years. I enjoy getting involved in the
community and having influence over our children’s future. I am a Layton High 1994 Alumni. I am a Senior Vice
President for Citi Bank and my current position is a Relationship manager. I have been with Citi for 23 years. I am a
1998 Weber State Alumni, with a BS in Business Administration/Human Resources.

Drew Chamberlain
Married 33 years, father of nine
Volunteered as PTA Legislative Chair
Served on two School Community Councils

Rosa Garcia
Rosa received a Bachelor’s of Arts degree from the University of California at Berkeley. She works for the Davis School
District as a Parent Informative and Resources Coordinator providing resources to parents and families. She also worked
at Davis Behavioral Health Inc. as a Parenting Instructor both in English and Spanish.
My Qualifications are: Independent, Responsible, Efficient, Flexible, Team-player. Problem solver, Excellent at handling
stressful situations and meeting deadlines. Detail oriented, able to take charge of any situation if needed, able to
perceive people’s needs, make people feel comfortable, and great at building confidence in people. Organizational
skills.
Nancy George
I am interested in serving as a member of the Layton High School Community Council for the upcoming 2017-18 school
year. I currently have a daughter, Kaitlyn, attending Layton High.
I have served as a member and secretary for the Community Councils at E.G. King Elementary, Central Davis Junior High
and at Layton High, most recently for the 2012-14 school year.
Community Council plays an important function in discussing and allocating the School Trust Land Funds as well as
determining the school improvement plan. It is a great opportunity for parents to work with teachers and the
administration in creating plans and providing options for students and teachers to be successful at the high school
level.
I have volunteered for the PTA, Central Davis musicals, Layton High Theatre Department, as well as accompanied choirs
at King, Central and Layton High. My professional background includes 25 years as a technical writer and editor.
Joseph B. Oliverson
I currently work as a full time Data Scientist for a programmatic marketing company, while also, currently enrolled as a
full-time student studying Statistics at Brigham Young University with an estimated graduation date of April 2017. I have
a strong technology background, with the ability to quickly learn systems needed to perform my duties and can program
in R and SAS. I am heavily involved in community service, including the Provo Freedom Balloon Festival, Tour of Utah,
Precinct Chair, 2002 Olympics, LDS church, and the BYU Men’s Chorus.
Melanie Smith
As a mother of five children ranging in ages from 10-18, spanning elementary, junior high, high school and
college, I am interested in becoming a member of Layton High's Community Council.
My qualifications include:
4 years a member of Legacy Junior High Community Council - Chairman for the last 3 years
5 years a member of Sand Springs Elementary Community Council - currently serving as vice chair/secretary
Certified Secondary Education Teacher (experience teaching English and Business in junior high and high
school)
Bachelors of Arts: Major: English Composite/Secondary Ed.
Minor: Music
PTA board member at Sand Springs Elementary (2011-2013 2015-2017)
PTO Vice President at Monticello Academy Charter School (2008-2010)
Currently teach private lessons in "Dynamic Strings Violin Studio" (teacher and small business owner of 27
years)
CERT certified
Launched the Great Artist Program at Sand Springs Elem. (2011)
I am passionate about ensuring our children have the highest level of education possible. I regularly volunteer
in the classroom and have been an active member of local schools' Community Councils for many years. I love
the arts and am very active in our community and my church. I have a unique perspective as a parent and as
an educator. I am anxious to aid our outstanding educators and our students through careful, transparent,
fiscally responsible distribution of Land Trust funds. I am dedicated and loyal to our Layton High Lancers and
their continued success through a well-functioning Community Council.
