MAY 14, 6:00-8:00 PM Interested in learning how to create behavioral contracts and token
systems when teaching a new skill or more appropriate behavior? This course focuses on token
systems and visual schedules. This workshop will review the use of token economies and visual
schedules as overall behavior management tactics. When used effectively, these strategies can
help parents and caregivers increase desired behaviors, promote independence and define
behavioral expectations. Token economies increase appropriate behaviors through positive
reinforcement by the delivery of tokens for completing tasks or behaving in desired ways.
Participants will learn the components of a token economy, its advantages, and application.
Visual schedules promote independence and help children better understand expectations,
thus reducing the likelihood of inappropriate behaviors. Various formats and presentations of
visual schedules will be discussed.
