The partner or spotter stands behind the student performing the cartwheel (if needed, the spotter stands in a crossed-arm position, and grasps the performing student at the waist). The spotter's arms uncross as the student performs the wheel. The teacher gives a verbal cue followed by a verbal cue/demonstration. Students exchange places after the trials.
