What is physical therapy? Physical therapy is a powerful treatment that helps you move again and strengthens your body. Your Doctor of Physical Therapy will guide you through appropriate therapeutic exercises and hands on treatment to help your body return back to function and alleviate pain. Physical therapy is fun! Some aspects may be challenging, but it is intended to help you get better quickly and back to enjoying life! Some patients experience immediate improvement while it may take some time for others to notice changes. You'll be making progress even if you don't initially feel it! What can I expect at my first visit? Your first visit will include an evaluation by a Doctor of Physical Therapy. Your physical therapist will perform an examination to identify current and potential problems. Based on the results of the examination, and considering your specific goals, your physical therapist will design a plan of care to include specific interventions and will propose a timetable to achieve these goals and optimize your movement and function. Your physical therapist will likely provide you with instructions to perform exercises at home to facilitate your recovery. You should feel comfortable asking your physical therapist any questions regarding your course of care, including specifics regarding interventions and expectations. How long will each treatment last? Treatment sessions typically last 60 minutes, but can vary based on individual needs. How many visits will I need? This will vary based on your diagnosis, the severity of your impairments, your past medical history, etc. Your Doctor of Physical Therapy will be able to provide you with an estimated duration of treatments after your evaluation. Why is consistency so important to my progress? Attendance to physical therapy is key to your recovery. We take it seriously and want you to as well. Your referring doctor and/or therapist have prescribed a set frequency of treatment. Showing up as scheduled for these visits is the most important aspect of a plan of care. Your requirement, besides attending your visits, is to follow your therapist’s instructions. This second requirement cannot be met unless you consistently arrive to the clinic at your appointed time. We know you are making sacrifices to be here for treatment and we are committed to starting your therapy sessions on time. Who can I provide feedback to along the way in regards to my therapy experience? We have a formal Quality Assurance process in place but you have the opportunity to provide feedback at any time to CEO Doctor Bryan Wright at [email protected] or Office Manager Jamie Franco at [email protected] How do I know what my physical therapy insurance benefits are? Our insurance specialist will perform a complimentary benefits check and we will review your policy details with you by your second visit. If you would like your physical therapy benefits confirmed prior to your evaluation, please have your insurance card handy and call us! What is the process for communicating to my referring doctor? We are flattered by your doctor’s trust in us to take care of you and we take this relationship very seriously. We will follow your doctor’s advisement in regard to recommended frequency and duration of therapy and ensure any protocols are followed. Your doctor can expect to receive a note on your progress a minimum of every eight visits. This update which includes your feedback on progress (assessed by an outcome measure which allows you to provide feedback on your pain and/or difficulty performing specific life skills) along with the DPT’s clinical assessment. We will also work with you to ensure your doctor always has your latest progress and can provide a progress note at any time during your treatment with us. We will also communicate with your doctor when you have successfully completed your treatment plan with us. What will I have to do after physical therapy? For long-term success, patients are encouraged to continue with an exercise program. We will custom design a robust home exercise program for you at the time of your discharge. We also offer excellent bridge programs to our patients who wish to maintain their health through a formal fitness program. SciAthlete provides high performance training geared towards maximizing athletic performance in all athletes. He attended the College of Southern Idaho for two years and finished his Bachelors of Science at Utah State University. Bryan continued on to Idaho State University to earn his Doctorate of Physical Therapy. During his time at ISU he opened a fitness studio to further increase his knowledge of weight management, which became the topic of his thesis. After graduating, Bryan’s interest in the spine led him to become the first mechanically certified back and neck specialist in the physical therapy field in Twin Falls. While working with athletes with knee and shoulder injuries, Bryan developed a love of sports enhancement, including return to sports, jump training and golf swing speed training. Bryan’s passion for physical therapy came after his mother had a significant knee injury. He was able to accompany her to her physician visits. When her doctor confused Bryan for her therapist, he became very interested in physical therapy. Bryan has always maintained an interest in healing people and increasing athletic performance ever since. Bryan and his wife, Shelly, have four young girls and one solitary boy, to help Bryan balance all the pink. Bryan secretly admits that he still can’t find any game he can beat Shelly at. He loves basketball, golf, football, outdoor activities, and eating a wide variety of foods. He holds the second place record in the Wright Physical Therapy free throw contest, with 59 in a row, but plans to reclaim the title. Bryan Wright PT, DPT, Cert.
