[email protected] WWW. ADVANCE-WOMEN.CH Editorial Dear Advance supporters, Advance celebrates its first birthday this month! We are delighted to share this anniversary with you and would like to take the opportunity to thank you all for your incredible support. Since Advance’s launch, its membership has tripled from 9 companies to 27. By joining the association, these companies are signalizing their commitment to campaign actively for a greater share of women in executive roles. We‘re working together to kick-start change. At the same time, we still have a long way to go and we definitely have many more ambitious projects and ideas on how to reinforce our platform and our community. We look forward to embarking on this journey with our member companies. Simona Scarpaleggia, Dr. Petra Jantzer Country Manager, IKEA Switzerland Advance President Principal, McKinsey & Company Advance Vice President Happy birthday, Advance! Twelve months have already passed since Advance was launched and almost 800 women have taken part in its events, returning a recommendation rate of 100%. The association’s wide range of workshops and events give ambitious women the opportunity to develop their leadership capabilities, gain access to role models, and network. “It’s not the number of programs that’s important, but choosing the right ones and ensuring they’re of a high quality,” says Petra Jantzer, a McKinsey partner. According to McKinsey’s report Women Matter, companies with mixed leadership teams are way ahead of their competitors. It is therefore in the interests of the economy and society as a whole that we harness the expertise of highly educated women and support them to further develop their know-how. Advance has set itself the ambitious target of having 120 member companies by 2018. Above all, it wants to reach out to many more small and medium-sized enterprises. The emphasis in the coming year is also on transparency: Advance wants to measure the success of its measures and the progress being achieved in its member companies. We are delighted to welcome our new members. Claudia Solanes is thrilled at the opportunity to be part of the association, and shares its aim of cracking the code to ensure more women in leadership positions in Switzerland. Claudia attended the Law and the Human Science University in Barcelona, Spain, and after working in journalism and consulting, she decided to take a master’s degree in International Relations and Cooperation. During her studies, she discovered a passion for development and peace projects. Claudia speaks Spanish, Catalan, English, German, and French. She resides in Kilchberg, Zürich. Martina Bender, (McKinsey & Company) General Management and Strategic Development Claudia Solanes, (Advance) Office Management We are delighted to announce the following workshops and events in the next months. On October 31, those participating in the Presence and Impact Workshop will acquire the skills and behaviors needed to ensure every interaction has an impact on the audience. This workshop will be held in German. The next role model event will be hosted by McKinsey & Company on November 13. Gina Domanig, Managing Partner at Emerald Technology Ventures, will give an inspirational fireside talk. The Influencing Workshop on November 19 aims to explore the style and engagement aspects of communication and leadership. The next CEO apéro will take place on November 20. It aims to foster discussion of gender diversity and beyond amongst peers, inform top leadership about our association’s achievements and strategic outlook, and inspire them to commit to our future objectives. We will also have a fantastic keynote speaker on the topic of unconscious biases and how to tackle these within organizations. And finally the FUEL (Fuel your Energy Level) Workshop on December 2 will focus on optimizing energy – our most important resource. Do you want to become part of a shared vision?
