Walking through the halls of STEM Preparatory
Academy and Rose Park Magnet Math and Science
Middle School, participants heard engaged students
chattering in their classrooms, saw community
partnerships that are enhancing the school
curriculums, and spoke to teachers that refer to the
various student backgrounds as assets instead of
challenges. We hope that by sharing these insights,
administrators, teachers and families will work
together to implement these best practices in schools
across the district. Full blog here.

Updates from Nashville Teacher Residency
As always, it was a busy month for NTR staff and
residents. Each resident is taking on more teaching
responsibilities in his or her mentor teacher's
classroom, and the residents continue to attend
biweekly classes in which they are practicing,
receiving feedback and implementing feedback to
sharpen their teaching skills. Residents have also
been introduced to their first classes in differentiation
for students with special needs and English Language
Learners.
This month, NTR Director Randall Lahann participated
on a panel during SCORE's reveal of its newest
report: Prepared for Day One: Improving the
Effectiveness of EarlyCareer Teaching. The reporting
on the event by The Tennessean and Chalkbeat
included quotes from Randall Lahann.
Last, but not least, NTR is recruiting for its second
cohort of teacher residents. Interviews of current
residents are posted weekly to our blog. Share them
with your networks and encourage potential applicants
to check out NTR's program at
