Timothy hums and sings calypso in The Cay.
This island music originated on Trinidad in
the Caribbean Sea. Improvising lyrics is very
important in calypso; many singers make up
rhymes on the spot. Go to the library and
obtain a copy of “The Banana Boat Song
(Day-O)” or find the lyrics online. Then make
up your own words to the song. Ask your
classmates to join you in singing your version
of this popular song.
